Arriving on the back of an emphatic 7–1 victory over Aveley, Bishop’s Stortford travelled to Lowestoft full of confidence and enjoyed the greater share of possession during the opening stages. The Young Blues soon settled into the contest, however, and began to take control. After creating several early opportunities, the breakthrough arrived in the 15th minute. Archy Gore released Sammy Tipple, whose initial effort was parried by the goalkeeper, allowing Gabriel Hind to react quickest and fire home the rebound. Lowestoft doubled their advantage just seven minutes later. Riley Eastell won possession before finding Aiden Chirimunjiri, who slid Gore through on goal to finish confidently. Gore struck again shortly before the half-hour mark to make it 3–0. Tipple found Hind, whose excellent pass released Gore to produce another ruthless finish. The hosts added a fourth in the 32nd minute when Tipple’s free-kick reached Noah Underdown, who volleyed home from close range to give Stortford a mountain to climb.
Half-time: Lowestoft Town U19s 4–0 Bishop’s Stortford U19s
It was another outstanding first-half display from the Young Blues, who combined control in possession with a clinical edge in the final third. The second half did not begin with the same dominance, as the contest became looser and more untidy. Lowestoft lost their clean sheet shortly after the hour mark before Stortford scored again from a free-kick in the 73rd minute, giving the visitors some hope of a comeback. Luca Upton and Joel Fletcher were introduced and both made an excellent impact. Fletcher produced some good work on the left before finding Upton inside the penalty area, with the forward finishing well to restore Lowestoft’s three-goal advantage. The Young Blues added a sixth in the 87th minute. Zac Cutajar delivered into the area and, after the goalkeeper could only parry the ball, Hind was on hand to finish from close range and complete his brace. Frazer Pike then rounded off the scoring and capped an excellent U19 debut with a brilliant individual goal. Pike stole possession from the Stortford centre-back before keeping his composure and finishing confidently.
Full-time: Lowestoft Town U19s 7–2 Bishop’s Stortford U19s
It was another high-scoring performance from the Young Blues, who backed up their 9–2 opening-day victory at Barking with another emphatic league win. Congratulations to first-year players Frazer Pike, Joel Fletcher and Thomas Mundy, who all made their U19 debuts during the victory. Zac Cutajar was named Player of the Match following an excellent all-round display, contributing effectively in both attacking and defensive areas. We would also like to thank Friday Financial Services for sponsoring the fixture and for their continued support of the Lowestoft Town FC Scholarship Programme. The group will now review the performance and recover before beginning preparations for their next National Youth Alliance League fixture against Aveley in two weeks’ time.
