Five-star Lowestoft end record-breaking season in style!

Lowestoft Town U19 rounded off a remarkable campaign in style with a commanding 5-2 victory over AFC Sudbury U19 at Crown Meadow, extending their winning run to five matches and securing a joint runners-up finish in the National U19 Youth Alliance League — the club’s highest-ever finish at this level.
The Young Blues came into the contest full of confidence following last week’s excellent performance against Bishop’s Stortford, but they knew they would face another stern challenge against an AFC Sudbury side still chasing a top-three finish and looking to complete a league double after winning the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
Lowestoft started brightly and quickly established control of the game, creating several promising opportunities during the opening half hour. Despite the home side’s dominance, it was Sudbury who struck first against the run of play after a well-worked move put the visitors ahead.
For the second consecutive week, the Young Trawlerboys found themselves trailing — but their response was immediate and emphatic.
Straight from the restart, Lowestoft built an attacking move with purpose as Upton slid an excellent pass through to Gore, who finished ruthlessly to level the scores. Just two minutes later, the hosts completed a dramatic turnaround. Aiden Chirimunjiri produced a superb through ball to release Gore once again, and the striker calmly finished to take his season tally to 14 goals and become the league’s top goalscorer.
At the break, Lowestoft deservedly led 2-1 after dominating much of the first half and showing outstanding character to respond so quickly after falling behind.
AFC Sudbury emerged for the second half with renewed intent and equalised just three minutes after the restart through the lively Charlie Oxborrow. Yet once again, Lowestoft responded superbly to adversity.
Only two minutes later, Gore turned provider as excellent work down the right allowed him to pick out Upton on the edge of the box, and he smashed an unstoppable effort beyond the Sudbury goalkeeper to restore the lead.
On the hour mark, the Young Blues extended their advantage further. Hind broke forward down the left before squaring perfectly for Tipple, who finished confidently from inside the box to make it 4-2.
From there, Lowestoft controlled proceedings impressively and capped off an excellent afternoon with a fifth goal late on. Eastel and Cutajar combined neatly on the right before the latter delivered an inviting cross for Underdown to head home from six yards.
The final whistle confirmed a deserved 5-2 victory and brought the curtain down on another record-breaking season for the Lowestoft Town U19s.
Joint runners-up in the National U19 Youth Alliance League marks the highest finish the club has ever achieved at this level — a testament to the hard work, development and togetherness shown by the squad throughout the campaign.
Man of the Match was awarded to Aiden Chirimunjiri for a tireless and selfless display in midfield, ensuring Lowestoft consistently won the key battles throughout the game.
A huge thank you goes to everyone who has supported the team throughout the season, with a full end-of-season review set to be published next week.
