Lowestoft Town U19's were on the road today visiting Dagenham & Redbridge U19's. This was the Young Blues final game of the 2024/25 campaign with the group hoping to finish with a victory. Dagenham & Redbridge were the hosts today who Lowestoft had still not played this season due to postponements. The home side were currently sitting tenth in the National Youth Alliance league after losing to Barking FC in their previous game. Three changes were made to the Lowestoft side that lost to West Ham United on Monday with Christian Guymer, Coby Lee, & Archy Gore returning to the starting line-up.
The Young Trawlerboys wasted no time stamping their authority on the game, taking the lead inside 90 seconds. Toby Wooldridge, who would go on to play a starring role throughout, lofted a precise ball over the top of the Dagenham defence, where Archy Gore beat the onrushing goalkeeper and coolly slotted into the empty net. Lowestoft doubled their lead just minutes later, again through set-piece quality from Wooldridge. His outswinging corner caused chaos in the Dagenham box, and Bailey Sutton reacted quickest to volley into the roof of the net from close range. Despite dominating possession in the sweltering 25-degree heat, Lowestoft found it difficult to carve out clear chances as the half progressed. Dagenham responded in the 15th minute with a swift counterattack, cutting through the Lowestoft defence and finishing past Porter to halve the deficit. The remainder of the half saw an open contest, with both sides threatening in the final third. Lowestoft remained in control but showed signs of vulnerability against Dagenham’s pace on the break, with Luan Porter making some important saves.
Half-time: Dagenham & Redbridge 1–2 Lowestoft Town. Coming out after the interval, Lowestoft knew they had more to offer—and they delivered almost immediately. Once again, Wooldridge was the creator, his dangerous cross finding Coby Lee, who finished sharply from six yards to restore the two-goal cushion. The visitors looked far more energised after the break despite the heat and a demanding schedule that saw several players feature twice earlier in the week. They created a series of quality chances, only denied by some fine goalkeeping from Dagenham. The fourth goal arrived on 70 minutes, and it was no surprise that Wooldridge was involved again. His pinpoint corner found Guymer at the back post, and the defender made no mistake with a towering header. Lowestoft saved their best for last. In the 83rd minute, a flowing move involving Guymer, Callow, Howell, and Lee sliced through the Dagenham defence. Lee slipped in Gore, whose low cross found Corbyn Dixon for a simple tap-in to round off an excellent team goal.
Full-time: Dagenham & Redbridge 1–5 Lowestoft Town. A strong finish to the campaign for the Young Trawlerboys, who showed resilience, quality, and intensity in difficult conditions. With West Ham’s result still to come, a third-place finish remains a possibility—capping off a highly promising season for this talented group.
With the 2024/25 season now officially at its end, the Lowestoft Town U19 squad will come together one final time to reflect on their journey, achievements, and growth. The group will conduct a full season review before celebrating their successes during the Presentation Evening, which will take place at the Lowestoft Town Clubhouse on Friday, 16th May. This year has not only been a testament to the players’ commitment and development but also a shining example of the strength and dedication behind the scenes at the club. A season like this wouldn’t be possible without the invaluable support of a group of selfless volunteers and coaches who go above and beyond week after week. A special thank you goes to Mark Kemp, who has driven the minibus to every away fixture this season, ensuring players arrived safely and on time across the region. In addition to his driving duties, Mark has supported on matchdays and provided detailed match reports that have helped capture the highs and lows of the campaign.
We also extend our thanks to Jamie Godbold, Andy Reynolds, and Charlie Norman, who have all generously given their time to deliver high-quality training sessions and tactical support throughout the year. Their input has been vital in the continued development of the squad and maintaining the professional standards expected at this level. Behind the scenes, Trevor Boyce has played a crucial role in ensuring that all kits are laundered, packed, and ready for each game—a task often overlooked but essential to keeping things running smoothly. Terry Lynes has kept all administrative responsibilities in check with precision and dedication, allowing the team and staff to focus fully on football. Finally, a warm thank you to Brenda and Steve, who have consistently prepared post-match food for the squad at home games, helping to fuel recovery and build team spirit. It’s the tireless efforts of individuals like these that make Lowestoft Town FC not just a football club, but a community. As the team prepares to mark the end of an exciting season, we take pride in the people who help make moments like these possible.
