Lowestoft Town U19's were on the road today visiting Kings Lynn Town. This was the Young Blues third game of 2025 with the group hoping to make it a third win and back-up an outstanding victory over league leaders Southend United last week. Kings Lynn Town were the hosts today who ended runners up in their National Youth Alliance division last season. The home side were three points behind the Trawlerboys going into today with a game in hand. The Linnets currently hold an unbeaten home record in the league this season showing this wasn't going to be an easy game for Lowestoft. Two changes were made to the Lowestoft side that beat Southend last week with Luan Porter & Bailey Sutton coming into the line-up.
The hosts got the proceedings underway on a difficult pitch that was beginning to be populated with clouds of fog. The early moments saw Lowestoft put sustained pressure on the Linnets with some threatening play in the opposing half. It wasn't long until the Trawlerboys got the first big chance of the game when Coby Lee broke through on goal. The attacker done well to avoid challenges but couldn't steer the ball beyond the onrushing goalkeeper. The away side continued to look the brighter side however started to become impatient in possession and rushed a lot of their chances. Just after the thirty minute mark, Kings Lynn created their first chance when breaking from a Lowestoft attack. The Linnets winger got himself into box and looked for a cut back which was well read by the Lowestoft goalkeeper, Luan Porter. Just before half time Ashton Blogg set Luca Upton through on goal who's excellent dribbling ability got him into a goal scoring opportunity however couldn't find the opening goal. HALF TIME 0-0. A dominant first half from the Young Blues who had controlled large parts of a game in difficult conditions. Lowestoft knew they had chances and should have been ahead however were also aware they needed to remain strong defensively.
The second half begun at King Edward VII Academy with the Blues kicking off and again beginning the better team. Some good work from Luca Upton found Coby Lee on the edge of the box who's strike demanded a world class stop from the Linnets goalkeeper to keep the score at 0-0. The away side continued to push for the opening goal and just after the hour achieved just that. A corner from Samuel Howell found Bailey Sutton in a crowded six yard box who headed the ball over the line before the hosts could clear the ball. This was a big relief for the Blues who had worked hard for an hour and fully deserved the goal. The game continued to be dictated by the away side with attacking changes Archy Gore, Corbyn Dixon, & Harvey Gooch adding further pressure to the Kings Lynn goal. The second goal came on seventy-nine from another Lowestoft Town corner. Samuel Howell delivered a ball that the goalkeeper could only punch to the edge where Coby Lee expertly volleyed a ball straight past the rooted Linnets goalkeeper who could only watch the ball go beyond him and into the net. Lowestoft controlled the final moments of this game and ensured that the points were coming back to Suffolk. FULL TIME 0-2.
Lowestoft Town U19's seal another big win in their league campaign, beating Kings Lynn Town away by two goals to nil. The win takes the Blues to the top of the National Youth Alliance table with eight games to go. Another excellent team display that at times needed the Young Blues to dig in and be patient for their goals. Another clean sheet for the Trawlerboys which means they have now gone over 225 minutes without conceding a goal. Massive credit should go to both Luan Porter & Jack Trowbridge for their roles in that as goalkeepers. Beyond that the defensive line and overall team have worked really hard. MOTM today was awarded to Bailey Sutton for his outstanding commitment to defending, goal to get us ahead, and spirit shown to secure the clean sheet. The squad will review the performance later in the week before looking towards next weeks home clash with Dagenham & Redbridge.
