DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE 3-4 LOWESTOFT TOWN

Lowestoft Town u19's were on the road once again, visiting Dagenham & Redbridge in the National Youth Alliance league. Lowestoft started the better side and got their reward after an individual moment of quality from Ben Atkinson, when he fired in a free kick after just two minutes. The hosts responded well and after some good play were rewarded a penalty on the 15th minute which they made no mistake in converting. The strong wind behind the hosts in the first half made it difficult for the Trawler Boys but after some resolute defending, they got in at half time all square. A change of ends after the break meant it was now Lowestoft who had the support of the weather conditions, and they made the pressure count when Norbury found the bottom corner on the hour mark. Lowestoft extended their lead seven minutes later when Atkinson added to his tally from close range. Dagenham hit back almost instantly with an indirect free kick from close range being converted. The hosts applied pressure looking for a late equaliser only for Norbury to break through with a couple minutes to go to extend the Lowestoft lead once again. Credit to Dagenham they never gave up and with the final kicks of the tie, scored a set piece. The full-time whistle went, and Lowestoft came away with a hard earned three points to extend their unbeaten run to six games. The young blues now haven't lost a game in the league since early January, showing great progress from the start of the campaign. The side featured five current u16's from the Lowestoft academy who all done superbly making the step up and contributing to the win. Next week the young trawler boys travel to Billericay Town FC.
