BLUES FALL TO LATE DEFEAT AGAINST TITLE CHALLENGERS!

Lowestoft Town U19's were finally back at home for their final game of the season against Chelmsford City U19's in the National Youth Alliance League. Chelmsford came into the fixture second knowing that nothing short of a win would keep their title chances alive. The game began very even with both sides having some good spells of possession but struggling to get a real foothold of the contest. Lowestoft and Chelmsford both had half chances before the away side took the lead on the half hour mark when they got free down the right-hand side and squared across to fire in. It was harsh on the young Trawler Boys who had more than matched the title challengers in the opening half hour. Lowestoft responded well to the set back and continued to try and keep the ball against the Chelmsford press. On the cusp of half time, Toby Wooldridge broke loose on the left-hand side for Lowestoft and executed an excellent lofted pass into Coby Lee who lobbed the onrushing goalkeeper to tie up the game. HALF TIME 1-1. The second half begun even before the away side started to take control of the game. Chelmsford were having good spells on the ball without causing Lowestoft any real danger in front of goal. The half went on with both teams making substitutions to try and get the winning goal. It came to the visitors deep into the second half when a deep corner was flicked back towards the front post to tap in on the 85th minute. Lowestoft had given everything to try and retain the point they had with it being a big physical task in the second half in the windy conditions. A disappointing end to the game after such hard work was put in from everyone. FULL TIME 1-2. That puts an end to the season for the Lowestoft Town U19's who have progressed massively throughout the year with much of the team being first year students. Well done to all players, staff and volunteers for their contributions to this season. We look forward to progressing forward in the next campaign.
