The FA Youth Cup returns tonight with a mouth-watering first qualifying round tie as Lowestoft Town’s U18s make the trip to Bloomfields to face Needham Market U18.

The Young Trawlerboys have been putting in the hard yards on the training ground this week and will be eager to rise to the challenge under the lights. They booked their place in this round with a dramatic 3-2 win over Wroxham in the Preliminary Round, showing great character to edge a tight contest.

Hosts Needham Market, meanwhile, progressed in convincing fashion, comfortably seeing off Wisbech Town. The two sides are no strangers to one another either – they met last season in the Suffolk U18 Cup, a clash Needham came out on top before going on to lift the trophy. That will no doubt add extra motivation for the Trawlerboys as they look to turn the tables this time around.

With both sides having an abundance of quality and plenty of young talent on show, this promises to be a thrilling encounter and a great showcase of local youth football. The game will also provide an excellent test for the Young Blues as they look to continue their FA Youth Cup journey.
