You can't fault the boys, says Ady Gallagher

The Lowestoft management were left fuming by a bizarre officiating decison but overall couldn't fault the effort and spirit shown by their team.

After today's match at Harrow Borugh I spoke to Craig Fleming about the penalty decision and Ady Gallagher about the performance and result:-

So Craig, the main talking point there is the linesman gives a clear penalty but the referee doesn't; how do you explain that?
"We tried to speak to him afterwards but he refused to shake our hands after the match and just walked off. I just wanted to ask him why, as I've never seen that before. It's right in front of the linesmen's' nose, he flags for a penalty and the referee doesn't give it; I just can't understand it".

So moving on from that talking point, you must be really happy with the effort and never-die attitude shown by the players on a badly cut up pitch, Ady?
"You can't fault the boys, they've got so much spirit at the moment and the performance for the whole game was excellent really. It's really difficult playing football on pitches like this but we've played some decent football today and we got undone a little bit with our keeper slipping for their goal but other than that the second half was all one-way traffic and we dealt with them tremendously, fully deserving to get something out of the game".

A bit of an unfortunate and lengthy trip to Bognor next up on Tuesday night but I guess you just get on with it and try to get some more points on the board?
"That's what we've done all season, whether we've been short of players or not. We've got through a game today with three suspensions on a wafer thin squad. The spirit they've shown and the reaction to the goal you could see there's a real spirit right through the group at the moment and we'll do the same on Tuesday. We know that Bognor Regis are a difficult side to play against, especially at home and it's a long, long journey but we've got players that we know can hurt teams and if we see just a tiny amount of the effort we put in today, we will hold our own".
