Trawlerboys set to host The Canaries

Lowestoft ready for home league clash with Hitchin Town

Lowestoft Town will be aiming to bounce back as they prepare for two home games to end this month after they suffered late heartbreak at Harborough last weekend.

The Trawlerboys were leading seventh placed Harborough Town 0-1 after Joe Duffy's fine 25th minute lob last Saturday.

But there was a bizarre late twist as the referee suffered an 85th minute injury, which eventually saw the game resume with the official continuing and a drop ball awarded that the Leicestershire-based side would subsequently equalise from.

And with 15 minutes of time added on, there was late heartbreak as The Bees stung Lowestoft with Stephens scoring in the 104th minute to seal an unlikely 2-1 home win in a game where The Trawlerboys deserved at least a draw.

Lowestoft's scheduled Southern League Premier Central fixture away at Biggleswade Town on Tuesday evening - which had been rearranged after a previous postponement - was called off once more due to a waterlogged pitch.

A new date is still to be confirmed for this fixture with The Waders.

With results elsewhere over the past week it now leaves Lowestoft in 20th position ahead of back to back home games to end this month.

Andy Reynolds men will return to the Fosters Solicitors Community Stadium tomorrow (Saturday) as they host 19th placed Hitchin Town.

The Hertfordshire based side are level on points with Lowestoft, but they boost a better goal difference and are ahead of The Trawlerboys despite having played a game more.

The Trawlerboys will be looking to secure a league double tomorrow having beaten Hitchin 2-5 away in a midweek October game where Harvey Sayer hit a hat trick.

Lowestoft's final league game of the month as it stands is scheduled for Saturday, February 22 - and it provides another chance to secure a league double for the season, with Banbury United the visitors.

A brace from Joe Duffy had sealed a 0-2 away win for The Trawlerboys over the Oxfordshire-based outfit in late November.
