Trawlerboys gear up for clash with Beach Boys

Trawlerboys gear up for clash with Beach Boys

Mark Boggis27 Feb - 07:30

Lowestoft set to host Concord Rangers at Crown Meadow this Saturday

Lowestoft Town will be hoping for some further home comforts as they return to action following a defeat on their travels.

After back-to-back home wins earlier this month had boosted The Blues, Lowestoft suffered a 4-2 loss from their trip to sixth placed Redbridge last Saturday.

The Trawlerboys, with Rob Eagle back in temporary charge in the dugout, had to overcome an injury to Henry Pollock in the warm up.

But it was his replacement Mitch Belmar, who crossed for Aaron Bullent to give Lowestoft the perfect start as they took a ninth minute lead.

The home side however hit back to lead 2-1 at the interval, before adding further goals in the 47th and 70th minutes.

The Trawlerboys twice hit the woodwork as they looked to get back into the game, but it was not meant to be - despite Bullent adding his second of the afternoon with a 93rd minute penalty.

Despite this defeat Lowestoft remain in 16th place in the league table, although Takeley, in 19th, are now just three points behind with a game in hand.

The Trawlerboys will now collide with The Beach Boys tomorrow as the month's scheduled action comes to an end when Lowestoft entertain 10th placed Concord Rangers at Crown Meadow.

Based on Canvey Island in Essex, the Beach Boys have only played once this month - a 5-1 home win over Brantham in midweek - as they have games in hand on their rivals.

With 12 league matches remaining, Lowestoft are due to play six games in 25 days in March, with the rescheduled clashes against Walthamstow at Crown Meadow next Tuesday, March 3 and the trip to Witham Town on Tuesday, March 10.

An away trip to Bowers & Pitsea on Saturday, March 7 is nestled in between, before Lowestoft host The Jockeys of Newmarket Town on Saturday, March 14.

A visit to bottom of the table Brantham Athletic follows on March 21, before the month ends with a quick return match and a trip to Walthamstow on Saturday, March 28.
