Blues delight as Josh Wells joins Boro after successful trial

"Having two players go off to the Championship this season shows what can be achieved with the right attitude and application.

Lowestoft Town officials have expressed delight after young defender Josh Wells signed a professional contract with EFL Championship side Middlesbrough FC.
The 18-year-old signed his first pro contract this week after a recent successful trial saw him impress academy bosses during appearances for Boro's U18s and U23s.
Blues management Jamie Godbold and Andy Reynolds and club officials have hailed the latest success.
Talented teenager Josh becomes the second player from Lowestoft Town FC to have joined Championship clubs within the past 12 months, after striker Malachi Linton joined Wycombe Wanderers at the start of the season.
The 6ft 3in central defender signed a new deal alongside Boro academy boss Craig Liddle this week, and joins on a professional contract from July.
He will link up with Boro's Academy set-up after shining during a recent trial which included matches against Wolves - where he scored a last-minute winner on his U18s debut - and Aston Villa.
A Lowestoft Town FC spokesman said: "Well done Josh and good luck on your pathway as a professional footballer."
Similar sentiments were shared by Lowestoft Town manager Jamie Godbold, as the Blues boss said: "This is brilliant news for Josh and also great news for Lowestoft Town.
"While disappointed to lose Josh, he's the second player now to sign for a professional club."
Trawlerboys' assistant manager Andy Reynolds said: "Everyone is delighted for Josh and we're all over the moon.
"This contract for him represents an opportunity to ensure he has a good long career as a professional footballer and we wish him well.
"We hope he can make a real success of it.
"As a football club, and for our area, it is great to see that if you are as committed as someone like Josh in terms of what he has put into coming into the academy, being Thetford-based and getting into Lowestoft every day, training and the sacrifices he has made to ultimately achieve this then I think everyone would have to say he has definitely paid some dues along the way.
"He knows he has to show as much commitment as he has done to us, to his new club and to his career and if he can do that then there is no doubts that he has an unbelievable platform to be successful."
"Having two players now go off to the Championship this season shows what can be achieved with people with the right attitude and application.
"As a club, we understand that for some players, that is our role in their development and one that we are more than happy to take on."
Congratulations Josh - everyone at the club wishes you all the very best for the future after signing the professional contract this week.
