Preparing for Wroxham

The week began with the group reflecting on the disappointment of their FA Youth Cup exit against Haverhill Rovers.

Monday’s training session included attacking practices and patterns designed to help the players exploit space in wide areas. The U18 group also reviewed the Haverhill fixture and identified lessons to take forward.

Preparations intensified on Tuesday ahead of the National League U19 Alliance fixture against Wroxham. Another positive session was followed by opposition analysis, allowing the players to review Wroxham’s strengths and identify areas they could exploit.

Wroxham Fixture Abandoned

Wednesday saw the Young Blues travel to the FDC Bowthorpe for their second league fixture of the season.

Both teams created opportunities during a competitive opening period, but Lowestoft took the lead through Gabriel Hind following an excellent team move and an assist from Aiden Chirimunjiri.

The Young Blues then had chances to extend their advantage, with Archy Gore coming particularly close when through one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

Shortly before half-time, Wroxham were reduced to 10 players following a late challenge on Lowestoft goalkeeper Jack Trowbridge.

An incident then occurred away from the field involving players and spectators, which resulted in the referee abandoning the fixture with Lowestoft leading 1–0.

The matter has now been passed to the National League U19 Alliance. The club will allow the appropriate process to take place and will make no further comment at this stage.

Inside the Week: Frazer Pike and Bailey Sutton

Frazer Pike and Bailey Sutton reflected on a week which featured both difficult moments and several positives for the wider programme.

Both players felt Lowestoft had performed well during the football that was played against Wroxham, creating several strong opportunities while limiting the opposition. However, the group’s subsequent Veo review also identified defensive areas which can be improved during the coming training week.

Frazer described it as a week of “highs and lows” but praised the way the group responded to the difficult moments together.

Thursday provided an opportunity to recover, with the scholars completing a light spinning session and playing futsal at Waterlane Leisure Centre.

On Friday, the players reviewed footage from the Wroxham fixture before turning their attention towards their first community event. Bailey highlighted the collective effort shown by the full group, who worked in smaller teams and collected 13 bags of litter during the afternoon.

Both players also recognised the importance of the Access Sport Performance Group’s excellent 3–0 victory at Dereham, making it a positive week for the college programme overall.

Opening-Day Victory for the Performance Group

The Access Sport and Lowestoft Town Performance Group made an excellent start to life in the AoC CAT2 East Division with a 3–0 victory away at Dereham Town.

Following last season’s league title and subsequent promotion, the group produced an impressive opening-day performance at Aldiss Park.

Goals from Coen Butcher, Kyle Molloy and Joel Fletcher secured the three points, while Fletcher was named Player of the Match.

It was an excellent result for the programme and demonstrated the strength and depth available across our different teams.

Scholars Support Litter Free Lowestoft

On Friday afternoon, every scholar took part in the programme’s first dedicated community event alongside Litter Free Lowestoft.

The players met at Waterlane Leisure Centre before separating into smaller groups and spending an hour cleaning streets around the college and surrounding areas.

Together, the scholars collected an outstanding 13 full bags of litter and received excellent feedback for their attitude, maturity and work throughout the afternoon.

Strengthening our community is one of the four core values of the Scholarship Programme. The event gave the players an opportunity to take responsibility for their local area, work together away from football and make a visible difference to the town they represent.

Two More Scholars Revealed

This week, we were delighted to officially announce Noah Underdown and Riley Eastell as members of our 2026/27 Scholarship Programme.

Both players have already demonstrated their ability and commitment across the opening weeks of the season, and we look forward to continuing to support their development on and off the pitch.

Scholar Watch

Several scholars produced excellent performances in senior football over the weekend.

Aiden Chirimunjiri, Archy Gore, Gabriel Hind and Riley Eastell were involved in all four goals as Kirkley & Pakefield secured an impressive 4–0 victory away at Heacham. Gabriel, Riley and Archy were all on the scoresheet, while Aiden contributed another senior start and an assist.

Noah Underdown scored and was named Player of the Match as Wroxham Reserves defeated AFC Sudbury Reserves 3–1.

Goalkeeper Jack Trowbridge recorded another clean sheet as Bungay Town won 5–0 at Castle Acre Swifts. Jack has now kept five clean sheets from his opening five appearances for the club.

These opportunities form an important part of the scholars’ development, allowing them to experience senior football and apply their learning in competitive adult environments.

Looking Ahead

The U19 group has no competitive fixture this week, providing the scholars with a valuable uninterrupted block of training.

The group will use the week to work on the areas identified through analysis, continue developing physically and tactically, and prepare for the next stage of the National League U19 Alliance campaign.

The programme will also host an upcoming Access Sport and Lowestoft Town Scholarship Information Evening at Barnards Meadow. Year 11 pupils with a passion for sport are encouraged to attend and learn more about the education, football and development opportunities available.
