Busy spell for Trawlerboys starts with home clash against Mildenhall Town on Saturday

Lowestoft Town are gearing up for a busy spell with four games due to be played over the next 14 days this month.

After the continuing bad weather saw Lowestoft's scheduled weekend fixture at home to Walthamstow postponed following a pitch inspection last Friday, The Trawlerboys finally played their first game of 2026 in midweek.

With their previous two away games having been postponed, Lowestoft made the short trip to Norfolk to face fourth placed Wroxham on Tuesday evening in the Pitching In Isthmian League North Division in a match that produced plenty of thrills.

Having ended 2025 with three successive defeats, Lowestoft's first match of 2026 on Tuesday proved to be an action packed clash at Trafford Park in front of 268 fans as it ended in a 2-2 draw.

The home side took a sixth minute lead as Shaun Taylor fired home after a corner was only partially cleared.

Former Trawlerboy Sam Johnson was then shown a straight red card and subsequently sent off for Wroxham in the 21st minute following a foul on Rio Abodunde.

Lowestoft equalised in the 30th minute through Aaron Bullent's header, but The Yachtsmen regained the lead just two minutes later as Travis Dodsworth converted a penalty.

Ashton Blogg came on for Lowestoft at half time, and the midfielder had a superb free kick from distance tipped over by Tom Coombe before Josh Harvey equalised for The Trawlerboys in the 76th minute as it ended all square.

The draw and results elsewhere over the past week have meant The Trawlerboys slipped from 16th to 17th position.

Last Saturday's postponed home clash against 18th placed Walthamstow has now been rescheduled, and it will be played at Crown Meadow on Tuesday, February 10, 7.45pm KO.

But before that, Lowestoft face a run of four league games in a fortnight.

The busy spell for Andy Reynolds men starts at Crown Meadow tomorrow, 3pm KO, (Saturday, January 17) as Lowestoft host 15th placed Mildenhall Town - who are two points and two places ahead of Lowestoft, with both teams having played 24 league games.

The rearranged trip to 19th placed Takeley - who are two places and seven points behind Lowestoft, with two games in hand - is now earmarked to take place next Tuesday, January 20 (7.45pm KO).

A further two league matches then follow at the end of the month - with the tough task of successive games against sides that are currently second and third in the table.

Lowestoft head to Essex on Saturday, January 24 to face second placed Maldon & Tiptree.

The month's scheduled action then concludes on Saturday, January 31 at Crown Meadow as Lowestoft host third placed Waltham Abbey.
