Officials at Lowestoft Town FC are hopeful that a new signing will further bolster their squad ranks.
Following a spate of recent injuries, Lowestoft have been in talks to sign a new keeper after the awful season-ending injury first team custodian Luke Holt suffered two weeks ago.
Boosting a talented pool of young keepers in Korey Beevor (who is also currently injured), Jack Trowbridge and Ronnie Yeo, Blues boss Jamie Godbold agreed the dual-registration signing of Danny Cullum from Needham Market earlier this month.
But given his availabilities with the Marketmen, club officials have been searching for a longer term solution.
And now they have moved closer to sealing a real coup of a signing - with a race against time to get the new recruit unveiled.
Talks have been ongoing for the past couple of weeks, and Godbold said: "We have been working hard to bring a new goalkeeper in.
"Former Norwich City goalkeeper Sam Blair has been playing out in Sweden for the last few months, with Ytterhogdals."
The former Norwich City academy goalkeeper Blair, 21, moved to Icelandic Premier League side KR Reykjavik in February before moving to Sweden on loan recently.
Now the Ireland U21 international, who hails from Aylsham - and has previously played on loan at both King's Lynn and Bury Town - could be set to join The Trawlerboys.
Godbold said: "We've spoken with Sam, with regards signing and registering him, but we are now waiting for that registration to come through in time for FA clearance.
"He will be an influential signing that will really help the squad - so hopefully that all comes through in time."
