Lowestoft Town FC manager Jamie Godbold has hailed a new defensive signing as a "really good addition" as The Trawlerboys prepare for a return to action.

After six successive league wins Lowestoft are back in action as they host 17th placed New Salamis at the Fosters Solicitors Community Stadium this Saturday.

And they have been boosted by a new defensive capture - following the signing of Wroxham defender Josh Hazell.

The Trawlerboys have been without injured defenders Travis Cole, Dylan Ruffles and Owen Murphy for the past few games, with Sam Johnson shining in a centre back role alongside recently signed defender Graham Hinton.

Now they have been boosted by "a really good addition" as former Fakenham central defender Hazell joins the squad.

Godbold said: "Josh has joined us from Wroxham.

"He has been on our radar since we played Fakenham in a pre season friendly a couple of years ago.

"He made the move to Wroxham but we have kept an eye on him, and we are now really pleased to have Josh join us.

"He is a really good addition.

"Josh is defensively excellent, with great physical presence and technique.

"He is a big strong lad who is really aggressive in both boxes and is also capable of scoring goals.

"We have been lacking defensively for periods this season, and with the injuries to both Travis and Dylan - who have been outstanding at centre half - it has made it a good time to bring someone in."

A warm Trawlerboys welcome to Josh - we look forward to seeing you in a blue shirt!
