The Lowestoft Town Youth team made it two wins from two, putting in a commanding second half performance to deservedly beat North Walsham 3-0.
The first fifteen minutes of the game was fairly open but North Walsham were edging the attacking play. As the half went on though, Lowestoft started to get into the game more and with Lee Parsons showing great strength and commitment in midfield to regularly win the ball for Lowestoft, the blues started to create their own chances.
Captain and attacker Connor Doddington was played in from midfield and should have given Lowestoft the lead but after getting too close to the keeper the chance was saved.
A curling effort on the half hour mark by Nana Haziel just went past the North Walsham upright
for Lowestoft but the game was now mainly being contended in the centre of the pitch.
Lowestoft did get another opening on goal before the break with the away keeper having to turn a Connor Doddington shot around the post but at the break both sides left the pitch with the game goalless.
North Walsham started the second half strongly with a good burst forward seeing a shot dragged wide of the Lowestoft goal. This proved as a bit of a wakeup call for Lowestoft and shortly after this the defence tightened up with centre back Liam Brown impressing again, as he did in the first game of the season.
Lowestoft were now starting to stretch the play and impose themselves on the North Walsham defence and with ten minutes of the half gone Lowestoft nearly broke the deadlock with some great football. Moments later though they finally got their reward and took the lead with a super cross being delivered from the right and Lee Parsons at hand in the box to rise and head past the keeper for 1-0 (58 mins).
Shortly after this the Lowestoft defence were forced to head a ball off the line and over the bar as North Waltham looked to hit back right away. However, Lowestoft continued to look hungry when going forward, with Nana Haziel in particular impressing in midfield.
Lowestoft keeper Rick Parsons did have to get down well to deny North Walsham a goalscoring chance but with Elliot Rose being introduced and getting in behind the North Walsham defence on a number of occasions, it looked only a matter of time before Lowestoft would increase their lead.
Another good move by Lowestoft forced a foul from North Walsham on the edge of the area and after being guilty of not taking a couple of chances first half, Connor Doddington stepped up and curled a sweet free-kick into the top corner for 2-0 (82 mins). It was a great goal and was celebrated with a knee slide towards the watching crowd, as Lowestoft looked to have secured the points.
Three minutes later the result was then put beyond no doubt with Ashley Dudey hitting a screamer from all of 30 yards out and beating the keeper all ends up to make it 3-0 (85 mins).
It was a good performance again from Lowestoft, especially in the second half when the whole team applied themselves superbly and caused a good North Walsham side lots of problems. Nana Haziel and Lee Parsons looked really solid in the middle of the pitch throughout. The defence was fairly tight and the ball was played out from the back with some good and solid passing. While the wide players stretched the play and the forwards found the gaps.
No doubt there is still improvement to come as the team gels and develops but it was another good showing and another three points.
