Lowestoft Town came from a goal down to produce a thumping 7-1 win at Aylsham and seal their place in Round 2 of the NWGFL League Cup.
A superb Hat-Trick from Zoe Gibbons, A brace from Beth Turner plus other goals from Louise Nichols and Mia Rose saw Lowestoft claim a comfortable win.
In what was the only tie of the round that paired two Division One sides together Lowestoft knew the challenge that awaited having previously win 4-3 at the Youngs Park 3G in April.
Lowestoft returned to the venue of their NWGFL title win full of confidence after an 100% start in the league so far. That confidence was there for all to see.
Aylsham took the lead on 5 minutes with a defense splitting pass which was finished really well by Vicki Lubbock. It took until the half hour mark for Lowestoft to find the net with Beth Turner levelling the scores 15 minutes out from the Half time break.
Mia Rose scored on 44 minutes which was the perfect time to score and give Lowestoft the lead at the break.
Following the break Beth Turner added her second of the afternoon scoring in the 46 minute and thereafter Lowestoft never looked back.
Three goals in a blistering seven minute period saw Lowestoft put huge daylight between themselves and the hosts. The fourth from Zoe Gibbons, the fifth from Louise Nichols and the sixth from Zoe Gibbons again made it super six for the afternoon.
Just as the game was coming to a close Gibbons made it a magnificent seven for Lowestoft with her hat trick and made it 7-1 to Lowestoft which was how it finished.
Zoe Gibbons was player of the match for Lowestoft with a superb inspirational performance, only being introduced from the bench at Half Time but scoring a hat-trick in the second half. The game also saw 2 assists for young talent Imogen Smith and a return to the pitch for Selina Rowland for the first time who headed against the bar with her first touch and will be a force for Lowestoft in the weeks and months ahead.
This was a fantastic result and great show of unity and togetherness from the Trawler Girls as they continued their magnificent start to the season and start their League Cup campaign in absolute style.
The second round draw was made on Monday and Lowestoft Town have a home tie against Long Stratton on Sunday 8th November, with kick off set for Crown Meadow at 2pm on the day.
Next up for the Trawler Girls is a return League action when Lowestoft host UEA next Sunday 18th October with kick off at 2pm at Crown Meadow.
Up the Trawler Girls!
