Ladies set for Huge February

Lowestoft Town Ladies are set to embark on a February period that by the end will give a huge indication on the landscape of the title race.

After just one game in the last five Sundays, the team hope all fixtures take place and momentum can be built as we head towards the business end of the season.

The Ladies kick off February with a trip to University of East Anglia on Sunday 1st February, Now the University are back from the Christmas Break, this will be one of the most taxing fixtures remaining of the season for the Ladies. Confidence will however be taken ahead of the trip to Colney Lane, UEA have already visited Crown Meadow twice and on both occasions losing 3-1, once on 7th September in the League where goals from Mia Rose, and a Bea Silva brace saw Lowestoft win their first ever match since their re-birth.

UEA visited again on 12th October in the League Cup, same outcome a 3-1 win for Lowestoft, this time Beth Turner found the net with Hazel Saddington scoring a brace. A competition in which the Ladies have now reached the Semi Final stage following North Walsham not turning up for the Quarter Final on Sunday. The trip to UEA provides a potential banana skin fixture, if Iain Spoor's team can win down the Colney Lane, this will be another massive step towards winning the League.

On February 8th, The Ladies remain on the road this time for a trip to Aylsham, The visit to Youngs Park will again provide another one of the more challenging away trips in the Division. Aylsham at the time of writing have played 6, won 5 and only dropped three points all season. They are well coached by the experienced former Norwich City manager Steve Kenny and the Ladies are yet to play Aylsham this season. The Ladies will be favourites but they will need to be at their best to come away with three points in what is likely to be a very physical encounter.

The Ladies complete their February Road Trips on 15th of the month with a trip to Mulbarton Wanderers to face their Development side who are one of the Ladies main threats in the Division. The game will be played at Orchard Park but again confidence will be taken that the Ladies can come away with all three points, in the reverse league game Lowestoft won comfortably 5-1 thanks to a Mia Rose Hat-Trick and goals from Beth Turner and Hazel Saddington. However on the Ladies last visit to Orchard Park they won a very tight cup tie 2-1 thanks to a brace from Mia Rose. Its another very difficult away assignment but one where the Ladies will give everything.

Three big away games but Manager Iain Spoor and Captain Charnelle Riggall will have the team fully motivated and ready for these big away days, if the team can pick up 9 points that would be a phenomenal achievement and put them as clear favourites for the title. By the time we wrap up at Mulbarton on 15th February we will have a good idea how the League standings look.

Once those away days are completed, the Ladies will very much look forward to returning to home comforts when they welcome Bure Valley for the first meeting between the sides on Sunday 22nd February, this fixture is expected to take place at Barnards Meadow due to the Charity game scheduled at Crown Meadow. Bure Valley are a wonderfully run Football club and this game will be one to watch between two excellent sides who play great football.

So a busy February awaits the Ladies, who have been humbled by the outstanding support they have had so far, please get down to any games you like be it home or away and your support of the Ladies will be hugely appreciated as they look to achieve greatness in the remaining months of the season. A good February and they can start dreaming of what the season might hold.

Up The Lowie!
