Lowestoft Town Ladies open up their season this weekend by hosting Needham Market in the Adobe Women's FA Cup. After receiving a bye through the preliminary round, the Trawler Girls move straight into the First Qualifying round and welcome the Eastern Region opposition to Crown Meadow on Sunday afternoon.

The Women's Fa Cup is a competition decorated in Lowestoft Town history, the club were winners of the trophy back in 1982 in a final played at Loftus Road the home of Queens Park Rangers, Lowestoft ran out 2-0 winners over Cleveland Spartans who are now known in modern day football as Middlesbrough. Linda Curl and Angela Poppy were the goalscoring heroes on the day in the 1st May final.

Lowestoft were also runners up three years prior in 1979 narrowly losing 1-0 to Southampton in a final played at Waterlooville. Its a competition with Lowestoft written in its history and the modern day Trawler Girls will be hoping to write more success.

Sunday is a great occasion to open the new Lowestoft Ladies season with a nothing to lose, everything to gain clash against higher league opposition, this Tier Seven vs Tier Six tie will see Lowestoft go in very much as underdogs against Needham Market but the present day Trawler Girls of Chloe Pearce, Charnelle Riggall, Lauren Goulder, Zoe Gibbons and the rest of the team will relish the opportunity to kick start the season and aim to cause a famous upset.

With all the pressure on the visitors, its very much a matchday for the club to relish, the players to enjoy and show the watching crowd their full potential. If they do they will have a chance of achieving something very special.

The game on Sunday 6th September is a 2.00pm kick off at Crown Meadow with admission £5 for Adults, £3 concessions and U16 Free. The bar will open for the game as well.
