Match Preview: Lowestoft Town U19s vs Aveley U19s

Lowestoft Town U19s return to National Youth Alliance League action on Wednesday afternoon when they welcome Aveley U19s to Crown Meadow.

The Young Blues enter the fixture having won both of their completed league matches convincingly, scoring 16 goals in the process.

Lowestoft began the campaign with an outstanding 9–2 victory away at Barking before defeating Bishop’s Stortford 7–2 at Barnards Meadow. The group will now be looking to maintain its perfect league record and continue an excellent start to the season.

There was no Youth Alliance fixture last week, but the players maintained their match sharpness through a competitive in-house game involving mixed squads from the Youth Alliance and Performance groups.

The squad has since turned its attention towards Aveley, with another important three points available at Crown Meadow.

The Opposition

Aveley have experienced an indifferent start to their National Youth Alliance League campaign, collecting four points from their opening three fixtures.

They began with a 2–2 draw against Billericay before suffering a difficult 7–1 defeat away at Bishop’s Stortford. However, Aveley responded impressively in their most recent outing, producing an excellent performance to defeat Hertford Town 4–1 at home.

That result will give the visitors confidence heading into Wednesday’s fixture and demonstrates the threat they can pose.

Aston John and Tommy Lloyd will be two key players for Lowestoft to manage. The Aveley pair have scored five goals between them across the opening three league fixtures and will provide a significant attacking threat.

The Young Blues’ defence will need to remain organised and disciplined throughout the contest to prevent Aveley’s key attacking players from influencing the game.

Early Team News

Lowestoft will be without Callum Kemp and Corbyn Dixon for Wednesday’s fixture as both players continue to manage their respective injuries and rehabilitation programmes.

The remainder of the group will be hoping to build on the positive performances produced against Barking and Bishop’s Stortford as the Young Blues return to Crown Meadow.
