Lowestoft Town Ladies are the Champions.

They have conquered all in a season of huge achievement, winning the title in the first season since their reformation in Summer 2025 with an 100% winning record which led to them securing the Norfolk Women and Girls League Division One title on 26th April. Here is a month by month look back at how they did it.

September

The season began in the sunshine on 7th September at Crown Meadow as the Trawlers Girls won their first match by beating University of East Anglia 3-1, Bea Silva scored a brace with Mia Rose getting the other goal to see Lowestoft have a 3-0 lead, UEA got one back in the final 20 minutes but it didn't take any gloss off a fabulous opening day for Lowestoft.

The following weekend saw Lowestoft kick off their League Cup campaign on 14th September with a first round visit to Mulbarton Development, in what was a tough contest which saw the Trawler Girls behind, it needed a brace from Mia Rose to rescue the day and see Lowestoft win 2-1 and reach the next round.

October

October saw the rare the occurrence of Lowestoft actually playing a game on every weekend of the month, amazingly the only time that happened all season. The month kick started with a routine 2-0 win at home to Sprowston on 5th October thanks to goals again from Bea Silva and Mia Rose to make it 2 wins out of 2 in the league.

12th October saw cup action with UEA visiting in Round 2 of the League Cup, finally there were some different goalscorers as Hazel Saddington scored a brace and Beth Turner got the other in a 3-1 victory just like the league fixture on the opening day of the season.

It was back to League action on 19th October with a trip to bottom club FC Viking Valkyries, Lowestoft put seven past the basement club, there was five for Beth Turner, one for Hazel Saddington and an own goal.

Sunday 26th October saw the first real massive occasion of the season as Lowestoft headed to Norwich to face Costessey Sports at the FDC. Costessey like Lowestoft were being noticed and had also won every match they had played in the league and were producing encouraging performances in the FA Cup. Costessey were to be Lowestoft's only title challenger during the season and Lowestoft knew the importance of the game and came out 5-0 winners thanks to a goal each from Mia Rose, Laura Thacker, Beth Turner, Lucy Eagle and Lauren Goulder to secure a rampant 5-0 win and end their opponents 100% league start and put the Trawler Girls top.

November

The only match in November saw Lowestoft's home game with Mulbarton development on 2nd November played on Neutral ground at Waveney due to the fireworks display at the club. Lowestoft won comfortably 5-1 thanks to a Mia Rose Hat-Trick and goals from Hazel Saddington and Beth Turner.

December

After a mixture of weather, teams not having sufficient players and teams withdrawing from cup ties, It was like starting a brand new season on 7th December when Lowestoft finally returned to action, the Trawler Girls longest trip of the season saw them win 7-1 at Kings Lynn Soccer Club, a very difficult away assignment played in the driving rain saw Lowestoft raise the levels and produce a performance to remember, Beth Turner netted four on the day with Hazel Saddington, Mia Rose and Lucy Eagle scoring the others.

Lowestoft's title rivals Costessey had overtaken them due to collecting 9 points during Lowestoft's unavoidable 5 week break, however a Christmas Double with Waveney organised superbly by manager Iain Spoor to set the ladies up nicely for the festivities gave them the opportunity to take top spot before Father Christmas arrived.

The away game at Waveney on 14th December saw an 11-0 victory for the Trawler Girls, Hazel Saddington scored a Hat-Trick, Mia Rose and Abi Bell scored a brace each with the remaining four goals coming from Lucy Eagle, Lauren Goulder, Beth Turner and a collectors item from captain Charnelle Riggall.

21st December saw a 7-0 win at Crown Meadow against the same opposition with Lauren Goulder scoring a Christmas Hat-Trick, Lucy Eagle getting a brace with Lauren Purling and Abi Bell supplying the other goals.

Lowestoft were top for Christmas with organisation of the highest order from Iain Spoor and execution perfection from the players, everyone went off to enjoy Christmas knowing the Trawler Girls were firmly in charge.

January

Adverse weather at the beginning of 2026 meant Lowestoft didn't play their opening game of the new year until 18th January, a day that saw them open their Suffolk Women's Cup campaign with a tricky quarter final at Ipswich Valley Rangers, after a close 2-2 draw which saw Lauren Goulder and Selina Rowland scoring for the Trawler Girls, Chloe Pearce was the hero in the penalties as Lowestoft won 4-2 in the shootout to reach the Semi Final.

Lowestoft reached the Semi's of the League Cup the following week as North Walsham forfeited the planned quarter final at Crown Meadow on 25th January.

February

February the 1st saw Lowestoft win a tricky trip to the UEA 2-1, Selina Rowland and an own goal gave the Trawler Girls victory. More adverse weather saw games postponed at Aylsham and Mulbarton on 8th and 15th February respectively.

The Trawler Girls resumed action on 22nd February with the home game vs Bure Valley played at the nearby Barnards Meadow facility, Lowestoft ran out 10-0 winners, Lucy Eagle and Beth Turner both getting Hat-Tricks with Lauren Goulder, Marcie Prettyman, Hazel Saddington and Selina Rowland also getting a goal each.

March

The scheduled home game on 8th March vs FC Viking Valkyries was forfeited by the opposition and the points awarded to Lowestoft..

Lowestoft were knocked out of the League Cup at the Semi Final stage by Costessey Sports on 15th March, in an unusual 10am kick off, Lowestoft lost the game 3-1 in Extra Time, after a 1-1 draw which saw Hazel Saddington get the Lowestoft goal. A cup defeat that seemed raw on the day actually turned out to be a blessing with the huge injury list the team ended up with in the final weeks of the season.

League action returned on 22nd March and bounced back in style continuing the 100% league record with a 6-0 win at Bure Valley, Louise Nichols scored a hat-trick, Lauren Bullard scored a brace and Abi Bell scored the other goal.

Sunday 29th March saw a truly magical day at Crown Meadow as Lowestoft got their revenge for the cup defeat and obliterated title rivals Costessey Sports with a 2-0 win with just 10 players, it was 0-0 when Selina Rowland was sent off and Lowestoft played most of the second half with 10 players. Beth Turner's goal sparked wild scenes of celebration before Lauren Bullard put the icing on the cake to make it 2-0 and end the title race in all bar the maths. It was a wonderful way to end March.

April

Easter Sunday saw Kings Lynn soccer club forfeit their trip to Lowestoft on 5th April which meant Lowestoft were awarded three points for this game.

Action resumed on 19th April as Lowestoft played their Suffolk Women's Cup Semi Final on neutral ground at Debenham and lost narrowly to AFC Sudbury from three divisions higher 3-1. Lowestoft performed brilliantly on the day, holding the Tier Four side for 40 minutes, Sudbury scored two just before Half Time but Abi Bell halved the scoreline immediately to give the Trawler Girls hope. Sudbury clinched it with a third goal in the second half but Lowestoft were immensely proud of their efforts on the day.

Sunday 26th April saw Lowestoft crowned champions with a 4-3 win away to Aylsham. Lowestoft were 3-0 up thanks to two goals from Beth Turner and another from Selina Rowland, Aylsham got back to 3-3 before the special moment which saw Selina Rowland write her name in history scoring a free kick to win the game and crown Lowestoft as Champions with three games to spare.

May

The final game of a special season saw Lowestoft travel to Mulbarton Development on Sunday 3rd May and come away with a very respectable 1-1 draw. Lowestoft played 80 minutes with 10 players after an early red card for Selina Rowland, Beth Turner scoring from the spot on the day for Lowestoft to complete an unbeaten season in Division One.

Lowestoft were due one final home game on 10th May but Aylsham decided to forfeit the fixture and Lowestoft were awarded the points.

With the league already won at a canter, the league moved the trip to Sprowston forward from 17th to 10th May but due to a large injury list the Lowestoft management team decided to put welfare of players first and not play the game at Sprowston which was a very sensible decision with several players badly hurt in previous fixtures.

Congratulations to all our amazing players, manager Iain Spoor, coaches Maz and Andy on an incredible season which saw Lowestoft conquer all and win the division at a canter in their first season since re-birth in Summer 2025. Played 15, Won 15 secured us the title on 26th April in a season to remember.

The Ladies now look forward to presentation night at the club on Friday 22nd May where they will also be joined by our U16 and U14 girls squads for an evening of celebrations at Crown Meadow. The evening starts at 7pm in the clubhouse with the bar open and all supporters and friends of the club are welcome.

Up the Trawler Girls!
