Trawlerboys ready for two all-Suffolk derbies over festive period

"The Suffolk derbies will have that little extra bit of spice - with Leiston on Boxing Day and AFC Sudbury on New Year's Day."
- Blues boss Andy Reynolds

Some all-Suffolk derbies are set to add that "little extra bit of spice" to the busy festive programme for Lowestoft Town FC.

Gearing up for a hectic schedule of four Southern League Premier Central Division games in nine days, The Trawlerboys are set to face 11th placed Leiston today (Thursday) with an earlier 1pm kick off in an all-Suffolk Boxing Day bonanza.

The 18th placed Trawlerboys are then set to host 10th placed Barwell at the Fosters Solicitors Community Stadium this Saturday (December 28), before another all-Suffolk encounter starts the new year in style as Lowestoft host 12th placed AFC Sudbury next Wednesday, January 1 ahead of an away trip to Redditch United on Saturday, January 4.

Three home games and two away trips follow in January, which is currently scheduled to see The Trawlerboys play seven games next month.

Harvey Sayer's superb 69th minute equaliser saw Lowestoft hit back to share the spoils in last Saturday's home clash with St Ives Town, after the visitors had taken a 64th minute lead through Amir Hadi.

Lowestoft - already without the long term injured Flynn Clarke, Luke Holt and Josh Hazell - were also missing the injured Sam Johnson and skipper Travis Cole, and keeper Sam Blair had to come off injured in the first half as he was replaced by youngster Ronnie Yeo.

Blues boss Andy Reynolds said: "It is a busy festive period but we know what it is coming and we have to deal with that.

"Our supporters can also play their part over the festive campaign as we have some big matches to come - Suffolk derbies and big crowds - as we look to secure as many points as we can.

"The Suffolk derbies will have that little extra bit of spice - with Leiston on Boxing Day and AFC Sudbury on New Year's Day.

"We know we need to do the simple things well and concentrate on us as the games come quickly in the run ahead."
