Lowestoft Town hit the road on Saturday, when they travel t’up north again and make the 430 round mile trip to Harrogate Town.

Harrogate Town sit twelve points above the relegation places and are therefore pretty much safe and in a position in which the last few games will make little difference to their season. However, this is unlikely to make the task any easier for Lowestoft, as the home side will be under no pressure and will want to finish the season well.

Harrogate Town are in a league position where they have little to play for, except wanting to end the season with a run of results. This is something that on face value Colwyn Bay appeared to take advantage of last weekend, with a crucial 2-0 victory for the relegation battling Welsh outfit. However, it was Harrogate who threatened for large spells of the match and were left feeling frustrated in not having converting their dominance into goals. To add to their pain the opposition went on to score twice and produce a real ‘smash and grab’ result for the three points; which is something Harrogate will be keen not to see repeated. Prior to the Colwyn Bay defeat, Harrogate had gone four games unbeaten at home and within those games they had beaten Gloucester City and play-off hopefuls Boston United and Chorley. Their results at home have seen them play eighteen times; registering eight wins, five draws and five defeats.
Lowestoft Town come into the game having lost just twice in their last ten league games; form which has seen them keep the relegation battle at arm's length for now. Away from home is where Lowestoft have struggled to pick points up all season but in recent matches they have performed well on their travels. A last gasp draw at Bradford Park Avenue was followed up with a richly deserved 2-1 win at FA Trophy finalists, North Ferriby United. The win at North Ferriby wasn't just about the result either, as the whole team put in a performance and showed that they have the quality and determination required in this league. Craig Fleming has left in recent weeks but Dan Gleeson has stepped up and during his relatively short time so far alongside Ady and Mick, he has brought another dimension to training and to the sidelines during the match. This has been visible in the teams performances and in the way the team having tactically mixed it up over recent matches. Nobody is taking safety for granted until it's mathematically secured but a win at the CNG Stadium, while teams at the bottom have to play each other in the coming weeks, would near enough seal Conference football for the blues next season.

Reverse Fixture:-
(Lowestoft Town 0 Harrogate Town 0 – Saturday 6th September 2014)

The two sides battled out a goalless draw at the Crown Meadow earlier in the season but this was far from being a bore draw with both sides creating chances. Visiting keeper, Barnes pulled off a number of saves to deny the likes of Louis and Henderson for the blues. While at the other end Jones was also called upon and produced the save of the match during the second half, when flying through the air to superbly denying Rowe. In the end it was a point a piece but the game was entertaining, full of attacking flair and a real advert for non-league football.

Club History:-
HARROGATE TOWN
were formed in 1914 but owing to the First World War did not play a game until they joined the West Yorkshire League in 1919/20.
The next season they also played in the newly formed Yorkshire League and in 1921/22 they played in the Midland Counties League but after a disastrous season in the Northern League in 1931/32,
Harrogate FC folded.
In 1935 a new team called Harrogate Hotspurs was founded and in 1948 changed their name to Harrogate Town. They played in the West Yorkshire League until 1957 when they rejoined the Yorkshire League. After the introduction of the Non-League Pyramid in 1982 they joined the Northern Counties East but after just five years they joined the newly formed Northern Premier League First Division in 1987/88. Town remained at this level until 2002 when they won the Championship and were promoted to the Premier division.
When Nationwide Conference North and South were created in 2004/5, Harrogate Town's 5th place finish in the Unibond Premier Division secured them a place in this new league. In their five seasons at this level Harrogate Town finished sixth three times and reached the play off' s once, where they lost to Stafford Rangers. Long standing manager Neil Aspin left at the end of season 08/09 when Harrogate Town finished ninth. His place was taken by Simon Weaver the ex-Lincoln, Scarborough and Nuneaton player. Unfortunately Harrogate Town finished rock bottom in 09/10 with 30 points, only to be saved from relegation to the Evo-Stik League by the expulsion of Northwich Victoria. Following their reprieve Harrogate Town finished in a creditable 12th position in season 2010/11 and after an injury blighted 2011/12 season they finished in 15th place after a tense battle against relegation.
2012/13 saw Harrogate Town just miss out on a play off place when they finished sixth but they reached the second round of the F A Cup with a victory over Torquay United, their first win over a League club, before losing to Hastings United on penalties. Last season they challenged for a play-off place but eventually finished ninth, whilst in the West Riding County Cup they reached the final only to fall to a last minute penalty against Eccleshill United.
