Our Under-12's finished a respectable 22nd place at the highly competitive Challenge Cup that includes some of Frances' elite professional academy teams. The boys achieved 3 wins, 3 losses and a draw across two days in Lowestofts' twinning town of Plaisir. Caen managed to beat Bordeaux in the final as Brest and Lyon played out the 3rd & 4th placed game. Our young Blues managed to hold Lyon to a very respectable 0-1 in the group stages as well as winning against Havre and losing out to a last minute penalty against FO Plaisir.
The previous seasons have seen our sides finish 32nd in the competition, such is the high level each year. The coaching team, parents and players all well aware of what to expect fully bought in to the opportunity and went hoping to create history but even surpassed their own expectations with the outstanding performances and results.
Lowestoft Town Council again supported with funding to enable our families to experience staying with hosts from the twinning committee of Plaisir.
Angies Tours provided the travel and sponsored the personalised playing kits with hoodies that all players get to keep as a memento of the unique opportunity.
Our club wishes to thank Lowestoft Town Council, Angies Tours, FO Plaisir and the twinning committees of both towns for their wonderful support and hospitality in creating this opportunity.
