Three games remaining for Trawlerboys

Mark Boggis10 Apr - 07:00

Two home games and one away match in space of 14 days for Lowestoft

Lowestoft Town have three crucial games remaining in the battle to beat the drop.

The Trawlerboys picked up three points over the Easter weekend following a 3-2 home win over Tilbury last Saturday and a 2-0 away defeat at Suffolk rivals Felixstowe & Walton United on Monday.

The victory combined with results elsewhere mean Lowestoft are now one point behind two teams immediately above them, and four adrift of the 16th placed side in the quest to climb out of the relegation places.

Lowestoft, who remain in 19th place and in the final relegation spot currently, will now face teams that are 14th, 17th and 21st in the table during these pivotal Pitching In Isthmian League North Division clashes.

The Trawlerboys kickstart a busy spell that will see them play two home games and one away match in the space of 14 days this month as the action starts against 21st placed Heybridge Swifts at Crown Meadow tomorrow.

Swifts - who were relegated on Monday - will face Lowestoft on April 11 with a new manager in the dugout as former player Luke Wilson returns after managing Bowers and Pitsea.

The Blues will head into tomorrow's clash boosted by a fine home win against ninth placed Tilbury last Saturday, and a good performance in defeat at joint league leaders Felixstowe & Walton.

Behind at the interval to Forbes' sixth minute goal for the visitors, Lowestoft hit back with a strong second half display against Tilbury.

An own goal was followed by a first senior goal for youngster Luca Upton and a third from Kyle Haylock before Tilbury scored in added on time.

The Trawlerboys now have 40 points from 39 league games, with 18th placed Mildenhall and 17th placed Grays now just one point ahead of Lowestoft.

Meanwhile 16th placed Takeley are now only four points ahead of the Blues.

After the Swifts clash tomorrow, Lowestoft visit Grays Athletic - who are just above them - on April 18.

The season ends with a home encounter against 14th placed Brightlingsea Regent on April 25.
