Scholarship Weekly: Pre-Season Week Four

It was a quieter week for our U18 and U19 groups as they completed their fourth week of pre-season.

The players returned to the training pitch on Monday and got some valuable work in before both groups took part in analysis meetings. These sessions allowed the players and staff to review the previous week’s fixtures against Waveney FC and Ipswich Town, identifying key areas for improvement as the competitive season draws closer.

The U18s were scheduled to face Walsham Le Willows on Friday evening, but the fixture was cancelled. Instead, the players completed an internal match at Crown Meadow.

It proved to be an excellent workout for the group and demonstrated the strength and depth currently developing within the programme, with two competitive sides taking to the pitch.

First Scholar Announced

We were delighted this week to officially announce Luca Upton as the first signing for our 2026/27 Scholarship Programme.

Luca’s announcement marks another exciting milestone for the programme as we prepare for its inaugural season. Further scholar announcements will be released throughout the coming week, so keep an eye on our website and social media channels.

Upcoming This Week

This week marks our fifth and final week of pre-season before the competitive fixtures begin, with two matches to look forward to at Crown Meadow.

The first takes place tomorrow, Monday 24 August, when Lowestoft Town U18s welcome Dereham Town U18s. This will provide another strong test for the group as preparations continue for their upcoming FA Youth Cup fixture.

On Thursday 27 August, our U19s will face the US Sports Scholarships XI at Crown Meadow, with kick-off at 2pm.

Entry is free for both fixtures, and it would be fantastic to see plenty of supporters at Crown Meadow encouraging the Young Trawlerboys.

Looking Ahead

Both groups are now approaching their opening competitive fixtures of the 2026/27 season.

The U18s begin their FA Youth Cup campaign against Downham Market Town U18s in the Preliminary Round on Wednesday 2 September. The match will take place at Crown Meadow, with kick-off at 7:45pm.

The following week, our U19s will begin their National League Alliance campaign. They welcome Barking FC U19s to Crown Meadow on Wednesday 9 September, with kick-off at 2pm.

After four productive weeks of preparation, excitement is beginning to build as both groups move closer to the start of their competitive campaigns.
