Lowestoft Town bounced back from their midweek defeat in emphatic style as they outclassed a young Enfield side rebuilding after the traumas the club suffered a few weeks ago, writes Terry Lynes.

The margin of victory in this Pitching In Isthmian League North Division match would have been much greater except for an inspired display by home keeper George Edgeworth.

It took less than 10 minutes before he produced the first of several excellent saves diving full length to turn Sam Johnson’s shot around the post.

Jake Reed was inches wide firstly from a header across the face of goal and then with a snap shot just wide.

Edgeworth flew across his goal to turn a Harvey Sayer effort over the bar before producing a double save diving at the feet of Reed before bouncing up to tip the follow up header over the bar.

Johnson was then denied by the post. Enfield’s suffered a blow as Kyle Haylock was played through by Reed only to be brought down just outside the area by Vinny Murphy who received a straight red card.

With a man advantage Lowestoft struck early in the second period taking the lead after 52 minutes.

A right wing corner created problems in the Enfield area as Travis Cole's header hit the post with Reed finally shooting home from 10 yards.

It took Lowestoft just two more minutes before doubling their lead.

Haylock was brought down heading for goal by Jack Johnson who was lucky to receive just a yellow card.

Sayer placed the free kick straight into the top corner of the net.

Edgeworth again foiled Haylock as Lowestoft searched for a third goal which eventually arrived in the 64th minute from an unlikely source.

Enfield could only partially clear from a corner and young Daniel White blasted the ball just inside the post from the edge of the area.

Dave Hinton was next to get in on the act in the 74th minute hitting the near post with the ball flying across goal and in off the far post for the fourth goal.

Haylock hit the post again before finally getting the goal he deserved in the final minute netting from the corner of the six yard box.
