Lowestoft lost a feisty affair 1-0 to close out their pre-season campaign as rivals Kings Lynn claimed victory at the Amber Dew Events Stadium.

Fraser Blake-Tracy and Ryan Jarvis returned to oppose the team they played for last season but it was Chris Parker that fired a superb shot into Ben Dudzinski's goal to settle the day in the second half.

After two consecutive games without scoring, the Trawlerboys looked keen to grab an early goal and they went close; first through Travis Cole with a long distance strike which goalkeeper Alex Street spilled, only to absorb Shaun Bammant's follow through kick on the rebound and deny an opener. Kings Lynn then had their big chance to take an early lead as Ryan Jarvis played Leon Mettram into a good angle on goal only for Ben Dudzinski to shut that door and make himself big for the save. A lively start continued as Declan Daniels rose highest from a Jacek Zielonka free kick to produce a firm header, and the stranded Street would have been delighted to see the ball fall comfortably down into his arms. Towards the end of the first half, chances were hard to come by but the opposite could be said for yellow cards with words and challenges being sprayed around by a number of players; Humphrey and Daniels those penalized for Lowestoft.

Similar to last Friday's affair with Braintree Town, the rain poured down in the second half and it would be of no help to the game. Shaun Bammant produced a little foreshadowing of what might be to come, tussling with a Kings Lynn defender and picking up a yellow card, before the visitors nabbed the winning goal through Parker's thunderbolt strike. It may have been what the game needed because the atmosphere certainly livened up after that, so much so that the rare event of a friendly match red-card would arise for both sides. Ryan Fryatt flung an elbow at Shaun Bammant who retaliated with a kick and both left the field of action for an early bath.

It was a scrappy game, marred by a lack of discipline for both teams but one that ultimately could have gone either way. Lowestoft now have less than a week until their season opener at Leatherhead and can then look forward to Billericay's trip to the Amber Dew Events Stadium; where ex-Premier League stars Paul Konchesky, Jamie O'Hara and Jermaine Pennant will put the Trawlerboys to the test.
