Lowestoft Ladies 4 Barking Ladies 0
Lowestoft Ladies extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to sixteenth games with a proficient 4-0 league win at home to Barking Ladies.
Lowestoft Town Ladies welcomed Barking to the Crown Meadow on Sunday to resume their league campaign, looking to record their sixteenth straight win.
The first quarter of an hour saw both teams take time to find their stride but once Lowestoft did settle down they readily asserted themselves and saw a number of good opportunities narrowly miss or well saved by the visitors keeper.
The inevitable breakthrough finally came on thirty-three minutes, following good work from Natasha Thomas down the right wing and her delivering a pin point cross that found Zoe Cossey inside the six yard box to accept the opportunity. Having seen a similar chance somehow fly over the bar a few minutes earlier, there was no missing this time and Lowestoft headed into the break with a 1-0 lead.
In the second half Lowestoft really grabbed hold of the game and dominated, with stand in keeper Jody Wells having prolonged periods of inactivity with the game primarily being played in the Barking half.
Lowestoft added a further three goals from Jodie Drake on fifty-eight minutes, Chloe Hoffman on seventy-three minutes and Hannah Waters on eighty-eight minutes to complete the scoring and a 4-0 win for the blues.
Whilst Lowestoft were not quite at their best, this was still another really solid and professional performance from the ladies and with games in hand, they are well placed to make a serious challenge for promotion.
Player of the Match: Megan Cletheroe, who was outstanding at the back and special mention this week also goes to Zoe Cossey and Georgia Paul who both had outstanding games.
Also the team and management would like to extend their thanks to groundsman David Page, who did a remarkable job in ensuring the game got played. On behalf of the whole team we would like to express our sincere gratitude for all of his efforts.
