Lowestoft Ladies 6 Gt Shelford Ladies 0

Lowestoft Town Ladies win again, as they return to league action with a 6-0 home win over Gt Shelford.

Lowestoft Ladies welcomed to the Crown Meadow, Great Shelford who sat in second place in the league and knowing a tough match awaited.

It only took Lowestoft five minutes to open their account following a precision through pass from Paige Shorten who was outstanding from start to finish, which found Hannah Waters and she deftly lifted her effort over the advancing keeper. The next half hour saw Lowestoft lay siege to the Shelford goal but were denied by a string of outstanding saves.
Finally on thirty-seven minutes the Shelford goal was breached for a second time when Zoe Cossey scored from a very acute angle. Chloe Hoffman, who also had a superb game scored a third on forty-three minutes, before the goal of the game was scored just before the break by Paige Shorten, shifting the ball onto her left foot before firing her unerring effort into the top of the net to give Lowestoft a 4-0 lead at the break.

Second half saw Lowestoft make several substitutions and one of those was debutant Kelly Gray who made an instant impact with her tenacious tackling and excellent off the ball movement. There is no doubt Lowestoft have added an excellent player to their talented squad with the addition of Kelly Gray. Another player to mention is Paige Baker who does all the basics so well and is improving rapidly.
Paige Shorten added a fifth for Lowestoft on sixty-seven minutes with another sublime finish, before Hannah Waters completed the scoring on seventy-four minutes with her second goal of the game.

It was a really polished and accomplished performance which underlined Lowestoft's promotion aspirations. Special mention this week goes to Natasha Thomas who had a strong game and deserved at least a couple of goals and Chloe Pierce who made a welcome return in goal following a lengthy lay off.

This Sunday sees the team travelling to Millwall Lionesses for an eagerly awaited FA Cup third round tie and whilst the team appreciates the enormity of the task against one of the top teams in the country, they will go there full of confidence and hopefully give a performance to make the club proud.
