Norwich City Ladies 1 Lowestoft Ladies 5
Lowestoft Ladies progress to the first round proper of the Woman's FA Cup with an excellent 5-1 win away to Norwich City.
Lowestoft made the short journey on Sunday to take on Norwich City Ladies with a place in the FA Cup first round being the prize for the winners.
Despite their opponents plying their trade at a level higher in the South East Premier Division, it was Lowestoft who ran out convincing winners on the day.
In the first twenty minutes Lowestoft could of easily been 6-0 up but for some bad luck and last ditch defending which kept the score down to 2-0 courtesy of goals from Natasha Thomas on eleven minutes and Kate Pasque on thirteen minutes.
Lowestoft were in total control and Norwich were over run and totally bemused with the fluency of play from the Lowestoft team, with Hannah Waters adding a third on twenty-eight minutes before Chloe Hoffman added a fourth with a stunning long range effort to leave Lowestoft in total control and 4-0 up at the break.
The second half saw the Norwich keeper pull off a string of stunning saves with Hannah Waters being the main sufferer for Lowestoft, as she was denied five times in a one on one situation. Chloe Hoffman added a fifth for Lowestoft on fifty-eight minutes and this was followed by the introduction of Jody Wells, Lauren Bullard and Zoe Cossey to replace the injured trio of Megan Cletheroe, Amber Rowland and Natasha Thomas.
Norwich scored a consolation goal late on, while Hannah Waters was denied a goal for a contentious offside and Paige Shorten was denied what looked a blatant penalty for Lowestoft when she was tackled from behind when through on goal.
This was a great performance with all fourteen players proving a credit to themselves and the club. Player of the Match this week was a joint award with Hannah Waters working tirelessly up front and Broghan Scully, who's contribution in midfield was huge as she ensured Lowestoft seized control in this area of the pitch.
The first round will now see Lowestoft travel to London to play London Corinthians on Sunday 7th December (1pm kick-off).
Finally on behalf of all the players and management we would like to thank everyone who came to support and cheer the team on. Their support was fantastic and much appreciated.
