Lowestoft Ladies 8 Wealdstone Ladies 0
Lowestoft Ladies are within touching distance of the first round proper of the Woman's FA Cup after beating Wealdstone Ladies 8-0 last Sunday
The Lowestoft Town Ladies welcomed Wealdstone to Crown Meadow for an eagerly anticipated 2nd preliminary round match of the Woman's FA Cup.
Lowestoft opened the scoring on twelve minutes when Natasha Thomas converted from the penalty spot but despite having most of the play and possession, further chances that were created by Lowestoft were not converted primarily due to the efforts of the visitors goal keeper, who had a good game.
The second goal, when it did come just before the half hour mark was well worth waiting for, when Paige Shorten timed her run to perfection to powerfully head home from a precision cross from Natasha Thomas.
In the second half the Lowestoft Ladies delivered forty-five minutes of sublime football with their movement on and off the ball coupled with good intensity seeing a further six goals added.
Marcie Prettyman, who is playing as well as she has ever done found the top left hand corner of the net with a twenty yard effort, Natasha Thomas claimed her second before very unselfishly setting up Hannah Waters and the final three goals went to Anna Larkins who moved into centre midfield for the last twenty minutes, showing what an excellent player she is and that she has all the right attributes to be a leading player in this league.
The Lowestoft Ladies now look forward to an away tie on the 2nd November 2014 against Norwich City Ladies, who play one division higher and will provide stern opposition for the Lowestoft to overcome if they want to make it into the first round proper of this seasons Woman's FA cup.
Special mention this week goes to Megan Cletheroe who is consistently good week in week out and has really bolstered the centre of defence this season and to Broughan Scully who's vision in splaying the ball wide on both the left and right was a feature of her play.
