Ipswich Town 1 Lowestoft Ladies 1 (Friendly)

Lowestoft Ladies draw 1-1 with Ipswich Town at Portman Road in their penultimate pre-season match.

Lowestoft Town Ladies travelled to Portman Road to play Ipswich Town for their penultimate pre-season match knowing this would represent a stern challenge with Ipswich plying their trade in the FA Women's Premier South division.

The match started brightly with both teams pressing hard and also looking to play creative football when they could. It was Lowestoft who created the best two openings in the first twenty minutes though as both Natasha Thomas and Paige Shorten brought good saves from the Ipswich keeper.
However it was Ipswich who opened the scoring on twenty-eight minutes when a hopeful long ball brought about confusion between Kate Pasque and keeper Chloe Pierce and the end result was a soft own goal to send Ipswich 1-0 ahead. Lowestoft were unlucky not to equalize quickly afterwards when first Chantelle Keevil's long range effort hit the underside of the bar and bounced to safety and then Hannah Waters had a goal ruled out for a very contentious offside decision.

Second half Lowestoft introduced the three youngest members of their squad in Paige Baker, Molly Sims and Zoe Cossey and all were soon involved with Lowestoft's attempts to find an equaliser. Lowestoft were now pinning Ipswich in their own half and the deserved goal came on the hour mark when a great through ball from Katherine Huggins found Hannah Waters in space and she gleefully tucked away the opportunity presented to her to level it up at 1-1.
The last half hour became an end to end affair with both teams playing some very attractive football and with seven minutes left the Ipswich keeper made a stunning save from Natasha Thomas's fiercely struck shot to deny Lowestoft a deserved win.

A very noteworthy result with all seventeen players contributing to an excellent all round team performance for Lowestoft and a special mention for the back four of Marcie Prettyman, Kate Pasque, Megan Cletheroe and Anna Larkins who were all outstanding.
