Stevenage Borough 1 Lowestoft Ladies 5
The Lowestoft Ladies ended their season in style with an impressive 5-1 win at high flying Stevenage Borough.
The Lowestoft Ladies travelled to Stevenage Borough for their last league game of the season and delivered a sublime performance as they emerged with a convincing 5-1 win against a team who have been near the top of the table all season.
Natasha Thomas was the star of the show and put Lowestoft 2-0 up inside the first twenty-five minutes and saw a further two efforts very well saved, whilst the hard working Hannah Waters saw a good effort narrowly miss the target. A further two goals were very contentiously disallowed for Lowestoft with some questionable offside rulings and with virtually the last kick of the first half a stunning strike from the Stevenage Borough striker reduced the arrears to 2-1.
Within five minutes of the second half Natasha Thomas extended the lead for Lowestoft to 3-1 and in doing so claimed her sixth hat-trick of the season. A magnificent achievement from a player who has had yet another great season. On the hour mark Lowestoft added a fourth, with a goal to savour as the ball went quickly from Chloe Pierce in goal to Marcie Prettyman, who quickly shifted the ball to Charlotte Eastwood, who in turn found Chloe Hoffman on the wide right and a superb long range diagonal pass found Natasha Thomas who made no mistake to claim her fourth goal.
Lowestoft now were really in the mood and eager for more goals and Chloe Hoffman had two good efforts saved before Hannah Waters added a fifth goal which was hugely deserved, with her being a revelation since joining the team two months ago.
It was a fantastic 5-1 win and a great way to end what has been a tremendous first season in the Eastern Region Premier and all the ladies should be immensely proud of their efforts and achievements this season. The experience gained can be put to even better use next season and with an average age of only 18 1/2 the team can only continue to get better.
