Haringey Borough 1 Lowestoft Ladies 4
Lowestoft Ladies secure a vital three points with a 4-1 victory at Haringey Borough.
The Lowestoft Town Ladies were away to Haringey Borough on Sunday and knew three points were vital in their quest to secure promotion for a third season in a row.
Lowestoft nearly went ahead as early as the first minute but for a splendid save from the home keeper.
Five minutes later the home team were awarded a very dubious penalty which the Haringey captain failed to convert. This lucky let off proved important as ten minutes later and after good work in midfield, Hannah Waters burst clear and showed why Lowestoft were so keen to sign her, as she tucked her shot away into the corner of the Haringey net for 1-0.
On the half hour Lowestoft were awarded a penalty and up stepped Natasha Thomas who made no mistake with her spot kick to send Lowestoft into the break with a 2-0 lead.
The second half saw more cohesion from Lowestoft and they played their football at a higher tempo with several good chances being spurned before Hannah Waters grabbed her second on sixty-two minutes for 3-0. Fifteen minutes later Hannah Waters then turned provider, as she set up Natasha Thomas for her second and for 4-0 to Lowestoft. Both girls went very close to getting hat-tricks but were denied by some good last ditch defending but it was the home team who had the final say, as they scored a consolation goal deep into stoppage time to make the final score 4-1 to the Lowestoft Ladies.
It was a good solid performance by Lowestoft and performances of note, apart from the goal scorers, were those of Marcie Prettyman and Chloe Hoffman who always give 100%.
This coming Sunday Lowestoft will face stern opposition away to Peterborough and with all of their title rivals also winning, this is building up to a very exciting climax to the season with four teams in with a chance of winning the league.
