Sean Galea-Pace speaks to Trawlerboys manager Ady Gallagher on his thoughts about taking on Bognor Regis Town tomorrow at Crown Meadow.

Bognor Regis travel to Crown Meadow this weekend with the aim of avenging their 3-1 opening day defeat at the hands of Lowestoft. Ahead of that match, Sean Galea-Pace speaks to Trawlerboys manager Ady Gallagher on his thoughts about coming up against a side currently sitting joint-top of the league and in very good form.

A very pleasing 5-2 win over Bury after extra time in the cup on Tuesday night, what did you make of the game?
"It was a tough game, mainly because I felt we made it tougher for ourselves. It’s been a similar trait to most of our games this season; we’ve created a lot of chances but given away soft goals and that’s something we need to address. I’ve said to the lads that we need to find a bit more of a killer instinct really and not be so charitable in our defending. It is something we need to continuously work on, we have a nice blend of experience and youth and we are still making a few mistakes but hopefully we can learn from them and look to improve over the coming weeks".

A return to league action this weekend against a Bognor Regis team that are flying high and sit joint top of the table. How confident are you ahead of Saturday’s game?
"I know that if we play at our best then we are capable of beating any side in the league. We beat Bognor on the first game of the season, I’m sure they will be looking to avenge that game against us but their form has been as expected really. At the start of the season they were one of the favourites and we certainly expected them to be right at the top, they had a great season last year and pushed really close to winning the league, so it’s going to be a very tough game against very good opposition. But if we can find our top level of play then we know we can be very competitive against Bognor, just as we have done against every team we’ve played this year with the exception of Dulwich".

Having played midweek games for the last month, it must be nice to have a Tuesday off isn’t it?
"It’s important as we’ve got such a small squad and it’ll be good to get a bit of a break. We had Thursday night off training because I felt we needed to rest some bodies as we have a few minor knocks and it’s just important to give the lads a chance to freshen themselves up again and that’s mentally and physically. Next week will be good, it’ll get players who are carrying minor knocks chance to become fully recovered and gives us a chance to work on a couple of things with next week’s game in mind so it’s a welcome break to be honest".

Any injury concerns ahead of this weekend’s match?
"Jamie Waite is still struggling with a neck injury after the Hendon game and Andrew Fisk is struggling with a hamstring and a Achilles injury, he (Fisk) has also been ill this week so that also compounds that issue. Ryan Jarvis still has a minor knee injury, Shaun Bammant is out until he has a operation to resolve a long-standing Achilles injury. Several players have struggled this season with knocks and little injuries but its tough when you are asking players to play every minute of every game and it’s a difficult situation. But all we can do is keep plugging away, the lads are working hard on the pitch away from the club as well as at training and we know it’s going to be a long, tough season for us given the numbers that we’ve got. Hopefully we will be able to add to the squad in the future but at this moment in time, every player that we have got is doing their best to be fit for every game".

Come along to Crown Meadow tomorrow and get behind the Trawlerboys against Bognor Regis Town in the Ryman Premier League (3pm kick-off).
