This evening I caught up with first team Player/Coach, Dan Gleeson to get an update on the first team player front at Lowestoft Town Football Club

Trialists:
Harry Coe - We didn't offer anything to Harry Coe after his trial with us and he's now moved on and is looking for a club elsewhere. He's a great lad and showed a really good work rate and attitude but we didn't feel he was quite ready to play at this level.
Connor Deeks - He's a young player that we think has a decent future. The club have offered him a contract and both parties are currently discussing this contract offer.
Cal Catholine - He feature for us in defence against Gorleston but we decided not to offer him anything with the club.

New or Loanees:
We're still in search of a centre-half but we have got a young one coming in on Saturday from Peterborough United, with a view to a loan signing. We ideally want another centre-half on top of this and are currently on the lookout for an experienced one, as central defence is the only position in which we really need to strengthen. Barring centre-half's though, there probably won't be any other signings.

Youth Alliance:
We had three of the Youth Alliance lads feature against Gorleston and a couple the other night against Dereham Town. The three who came on against Gorleston (Will, Fowkes and Nyadzayo) were very good and enthusiastic and it was great to see Lee Will score our fifth goal. It was great for their confidence and they all looked like decent prospects.
Then on Tuesday night in our 2-0 win against Dereham Town we had Lee Will and Alex Coldwell, who both came on during the second half and did well. Lee Will continued on from his showing against Gorleston and the centre-half Alex Coldwell also did really well for us. For a young lad like Alex to come straight into the first team, having not trained with us or played with us before was a tough ask but to be fair he made two or three very good blocks and was impressive. I'm not saying he's ready to play in the first team yet but it looks like there's a few prospects coming through the new Youth Alliance set-up, which is good for the club.

You can see Lowestoft Town play their final pre-season match at 3pm this Saturday, when they welcome AFC Sudbury to the Crown Meadow.
