Experienced and highly rated goalkeeper Marcus Garnham has opted to join the Trawlerboys and play at a much higher level, in an opportunity that he describes as being too good to turn down.
While Scott Mitchell returns to the Crown Meadow having departed at the start of the 2013/14 season in the Ryman Premier League.
Garnham played most of his career at Bury Town, joining them as a 19 year old and becoming a real fans favourite during several seasons at Ram Meadow. In October 2014 he brought his long spell with Bury Town to an end, looking for a fresh start and a new challenge when signing for AFC Sudbury in the Ryman North. During his career the shot-stopper has won many accolades and plaudits in the non-league game and has long been regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in the county. There is no sign of this changing either, with the 27 year old continuing to deliver outstanding performances between the sticks and being named in the Ryman North 'Team of the Year' last season. Along with many other clubs, he has denied Lowestoft Town with a number of outstanding saves during his career but now he will be lining up for the Suffolk side for their 2015/16 campaign.
Scott Mitchell originally joined Lowestoft Town in 2009 and had four successful seasons with the blues before departing at the start of the 2013/14 season. Since then the utility player, who can play anywhere across defence and midfield, has had a spell with Leiston sandwiched between two spells with AFC Sudbury. Prior to this he started out as a youngster with Ipswich Town before joining Scottish Division One side Livingston in 2006, where he made over 40 appearances for them. He then went on to have brief spells at a number of clubs before signing for the blues at the start of the 2009/10 season.
Speaking about the two signings, Lowestoft Town manager Ady Gallagher said; "Both signing will be a great addition to the squad and their both players we're familiar with. Mitchell had some good times during his first spell with the club and wants to recapture that and I have every confidence that he will. He's a high quality and valued player, who's game we already know about with his great passing abilities, ball retention and adaptability". The blues chief is also happy to have captured a player that the club have had in their sights for some time, stating; "Garnham is a high quality goalkeeper and has been on our radar for some time. He was interested in coming to us last season but when we were put in the Conference North it was something he couldn't commit to at the time. His personal circumstances have since changed and the chance has come round again for him and he's looking forward to playing at a higher level with us".
Everyone at Lowestoft Town Football Club would like to welcome Garnham to the club and say a big welcome back to Mitchell.
