Lowestoft Town get more minutes under their belts with a solid display and 2-0 win at Dereham Town.

Lowestoft Team: Jessup, Ainsley, Rossi Jarvis, Mitchell, Smith, Henderson, Fisk, Okay, Eagle, Crow, Ryan Jarvis
Subs (all used); Garnham, Woods-Garness, Bammant, Mason, Deeks, Will, Coldwell

Lowestoft Town saw Ryan Jarvis return and included Youth Alliance players, Lee Will and Alex Coldwell in their squad. While ex-blue, Will Viner lined up in goal for the hosts, Dereham Town.

The first half saw Lowestoft Town display solid passing and some very good build-up play. Host goal keeper, Will Viner denied the blues on a number of occasions; firstly saving from Eagle, then having his hands stung by Ryan Jarvis, before seeing a half-volley by Crow smash into the side-netting.
However, a goal for the blues was inevitable and it came when Eagle danced his way into the Dereham area from the left and with Henderson latching onto the ball centrally, his stinging effort could only be helped into the net by the keeper from ten yards to give the blues a 1-0 lead (33 mins). It was a goal that was richly deserved for Henderson, who up to that point had put in a very energetic performance all over the pitch.
Dereham Town did enjoy their best spell just before the break but were struggling to make any sort of inroads into the blues backline and had their keeper to thank for them going in at the break just one goal behind.

Lowestoft Town took just eight second half minutes to double their lead, when Crow was fouled in the penalty area and despite the keeper getting a hand to it, Ainsley put the spot-kick away for 2-0 (53 mins).
The remainder of the second half saw Lowestoft make a number of changes and as a result their fluidity wasn't matching that of the first half. However, they looked comfortable despite Dereham restricting their efforts on goal.
Ten minutes of the match remained when the home side nearly got themselves on the scoresheet, having got in behind the Lowestoft defence. However, youth alliance player, Alex Coldwell made an excellent blocking tackle to deny them.
A well hit effort late on saw Garnham produce a strong one-handed save in the Lowestoft goal but it had been another good run out for the blues and despite being less fluid in the second half; their solid passing and build up play had proved too much for Dereham Town, as they closed out a well deserved 2-0 win and got more minutes under their belts in the build-up to the new season.

Lowestoft Town are next in pre-season action on Saturday, when they entertain AFC Sudbury and welcome Jamie Godbold and Andy Reynolds back to the Crown Meadow.

(Please note, there was no match report for last weeks match at Leiston due to the Press Officer and Club Secretary being unable to make the match and the local press not being in attendance either).
