Lowestoft Town 1-3 Met Police

Dale Brooks began his tenure as Lowestoft manager with a tough home defeat against the Metropolitan Police.

Ady Gallagher's former assistant would have been glad to welcome Andrew Fisk and Rossi Jarvis back into the rotation after long absences and with Fisk in the starting lineup, the Trawlerboys began the game with a majority share of possession. Soon enough though the side coming off a ten-game unbeaten streak would stamp their authority on the game and apply pressure to Ben Dudzinski's goal.

The visitors capitalised on a strong spell as Jonny Wright bundled home from a free kick to take the lead and almost added a second moments later when Jay Gasson's header forced Dudzinski to make the save. The half was not all one way traffic though and Harry Barker's excellent cross found Jake Reed in the box who was penalized for a foul while directing his header goalwards, before Travis Cole headed Adam Smith's corner inches wide.

After the break, Metropolitan Police had a golden opportunity to double their advantage. Lloyd Macklin raced through on goal, but could not keep his composure in front of Dudzinski and fired wide. Brooks introduced Jarvis and Cruise to try and push for the equaliser but it was Met Police's substitute Bayley Mummery that rounded the Lowestoft goalkeeper and all but ended the affair.

There was time for Lloyd Macklin to stretch the scoreline even more with a simple finish before Jake Reed's header, again from a Harry Barker cross, reduced the deficit in injury time. It meant a third consecutive loss in all competitions, but with players fast returning from injury and a further five home games this month, optimism is still high in the Lowestoft camp.
