Lowestoft Town 1-1 Harrow Borough

It was Rory to the rescue again as the centre-back headed home his second goal in four days and grabbed a late point for Lowestoft against Harrow Borough.

The Trawlerboys were second best in the first half and struggled to apply any serious pressure to goalkeeper Melvin Minter. Jacek Zielonka's free kick provided him the biggest scare but Ben Dudzinski was the shot-stopper left helpless on the twenty-three minute mark, as a fantastic volley from the lively Charles Banya boomed into Lowestoft's top corner. Woes were compiled just minutes later when Shaun Bammant had to be withdrawn from the game through injury and Cruise Nyadzayo took to the pitch. Yet as unfortunate as it was to add Bammant to an already stacked injury list, Cruise's introduction was certainly one of the more positive things to take from the day as the forward had one of his best games in a Blues shirt.

After one of the poorest first half performances all season, Lowestoft came out and showed a lot more intent in the second period. Callum White was another that had to come off injured and his replacement Sam Borrer might have added a quick debut goal from Zielonka's knock-down header if he'd stretched his leg further; however it was that man Cruise that went closest to the equaliser. Reed set the substitute clean through but Minter pulled of a great save to deny the former-Wroxham man a first goal in his second spell at the club.

As the match drew to a close, opportunities were harder to come by but a corner in the dying moments set up a perfect opportunity for Dudzinski to be the hero. Instead the goalkeeper drew three defenders onto him and was seemingly fouled, while McAuley was left unmarked to power home the header. Improvements still have to be made and it has to be said that a draw flattered Lowestoft in the match considering Harrow Borough's excellent performance on both sides of the ball. However, the fight and determination to get back into the game is admirable and if there's a man to sum up those two words better than anybody else in football then it's Rory McAuley.

Matthew Reddy.
