Lowestoft Town FC - Headline -- Improved Performance
It was a much improved performance from the Blues in their second pre-season friendly as Suffolk rivals Leiston were beaten 3-0. The 200 plus crowd witnessed the first appearance in a blue shirt at the Meadow of new signings Adam Smith, Matt Halliday, Adam Fisk, Craig Bussens and later in the game Chris Bond and they must have been impressed by what they saw.
In an entertaining hard fought encounter the deadlock was broken in the 28th minute. Gary McGee was played clear down the inside left channel and when his initial shot was blocked he reclaimed the ball, played it into the middle for Ross King to sweep into the net.
Lowestoft doubled their lead in the 67th minute with another excellent goal. Jamie Godbold was played down the right and from the byeline he pulled the ball back for Richard Woodrow to net at the second attempt.
The icing on the cake though came in the 88th minute with the classiest goal likely to be seen at the Meadow this season. Substitute Christy Finch touched the ball back to Andrew Fisk who from 30 yards with the minimum of fuss or effort placed the ball into the top corner of the net.
