Saker played for eight years at Leiston, and also had a very brief spell at Felixstowe and Walton United in March 2009. He enjoyed back to back promotions with Leiston, and must see Lowestoft as another step up on his football CV. He played over 250 league games and scored 24 league goals for Leiston, and he was also part of the 2008 FA Cup run. He was a former Tottenham trainee and is a very skillful player on the ball.
At the end of last season, right-back Saker became a free agent and Brantham Athletic acted quickly, getting his signature. However, with Brantham's and Blake's permission, this contract has been cancelled and he has now signed a 2-year deal with the Trawlerboys which he signed on Thursday night (26th July).
Blake made his first appearance in a Blue's shirt in last Saturday's friendly 5-0 win over Gorleston at Emerald Park. He had a very good game, making some timely headers, putting in some sharp tackles, and he also looked good when he had the ball at his feet and coming forward. He will provide good cover for Dan Gleeson to the defensive position of right-back, but I'm sure he would be able to fit in anywhere along the back line if required, and he strengthens the squad in this area.
It goes without saying that the Management and supporters wish Blake well in his time with Lowestoft Town Football Club.
