With the weather appearing to relent the prospects of a return to action for Lowestoft Town look promising with Tooting & Mitcham United the scheduled visitors to the Crown Meadow on Saturday.

The Blues are desperate to get back into action having been left idle since the end of January during which leaders Billericay have been able to open up a 5 point lead at the top of the table although the Blues do have 3 games in hand.

Visitors Tooting & Mitcham are not having the best of seasons and currently find themselves in one of the 4 relegation places. However amongst their 7 league wins is a 1-2 victory over the Blues back in October.

League action takes a back seat on Tuesday evening when the Blues travel to near neighbours Bury Town in the semi finals of the Alan Boon Cup (Ryman League Cup). The winners will meet the eventual winners of East Thurrock United, Maidstone United or Lewes.

On the players front there is a possibility of a new face in the squad for Saturday’s game with ongoing negotiations with three possible signings. Young Harvey Hodd who made such a good impression on his first team debut is currently playing for Norwich City’s Academy side.

The Youth finally returned to action on Wednesday evening when the deservedly defeated Gt Yarmouth Town Youths 3-0 at the Wellesley. Connor Doddington opened the scoring inn the 14th minute finally blasting the ball home after several earlier shots had been blocked. Josh Knights doubled the lead in the 33rd minute when his free kick from wide on the left dropped over the keeper’s head into the net. Then icing on the cake came two minutes later with a fiercesome drive from 30 yards by Diarmuid Lineham giving the keeper little chance.

Next Wednesday the Youngsters are at home to likely divisional champions Dereham Town Youth.

The Ladies will be hoping to return to action on Sunday with a visit to Coplestonians.
