The following news item is the Supporters Club Monthly Update (3rd April 2013).

Hello Supporters

Below is the Supporters Club monthly update (3rd April 2013).

With the season approaching its finish we only have a few up and coming events left in the calendar. However on the pitch we’re now at the sharp end of the season, with games coming thick and fast and our role as supporters becoming even more important, as that twelfth man.

TEAM PERFORMANCE

First Team:-
The First Team have continued their unbeaten run in the league which has now been stretched to twenty games, containing twelve wins and twelve clean sheets. During this time they have also beaten a young Ipswich Town Reserve side with a fantastic goal by Frew, booking their place in the final at Portman Road against bitter rivals Bury Town.
The team have now started to wade through a number of the fixtures which have been backed up as a result of this seasons postponements and since the last update they have registered four wins and two draws in the league. After fighting back from being 3-1 down at Harrow Borough to claim a battling 3-3 draw the side then got three wins on the spin. The first of these saw them returning to last season happy hunting ground at the Met Police, to put in a great display of football in a 3-1 victory which was crowned by a splendid goal from outside the area by Okay. The second victory came at the crown Meadow when Hampton & Richmond came with the intent of playing football. As a result this allowed for a good open game in which Lowestoft went from 2-0 up to 3-2 down and after being reduced to ten men following a Crane sending off, Lowestoft had to score two late goals to win a 5-3 thriller.
The third of their victories came at Kingstonian, a ground in which they've not won in recent seasons and have been on the wrong end of some poor officiating. However on this occasion the team played some great football in the first half, forcing the keeper to make several top class saves, before having to grind away and show great resolve to hang on in the second half for a 1-0 victory. Lowestoft's last two games were over the recent Easter Bank Holiday weekend, in which they played two local derbies against Leiston and Bury Town. In the first of these a low key affair ended with a goalless draw at Leiston but this was followed two days later with a sweet 1-0 victory against bitter rivals Bury Town, who only seemed interested in coming for a draw and Lowestoft eventually getting their rewards for their determination with a 68th minute goal sealing all three points.
Goals have come from all over the pitch for Lowestoft during this time and included within them were five Defty goals in three games and two super strikes from outside the area by the resurgent Okay.

Reserves/U21’s:-
After suffering three postponements the Reserves have only played once since the last update and that was at home to Clacton on Saturday 30th March. The cobwebs were certainly blown away with ease though, as goals came from all over the pitch in a super 7-1 victory for Lowestoft, with player/manager Jamie Godbold featuring in the match.

Academy:-
After suffering four defeats on the spin the Academy team have played well in the two matches they've competed in since the last update. On the 7th March the team travelled to North Walsham Town and with every player on the pitch putting in a superb performance, Lowestoft left with not only the three points but a magnificent 8-1 victory to boot.
It wasn't until twenty days after this result that the team took to the field again, facing local rivals Kirkley and Pakefield at the Crown Meadow. It was a really good game of football, containing some excellent strikes but Lowestoft just came up short and ended up on the wrong end of a narrow 3-2 scoreline.

Lowestoft Ladies:-
Our Ladies team have only played once since the last update but in that game they registered a 4-2 Suffolk Cup Semi-Final victory over Haverhill Rovers to book their place in the final.
Three well executed strikes by hatrick hero Lauren Goulder were accompanied by a super strike from Natasha Thomas, as Lowestoft ensured that they would yet again be in the cup final for the second season running.
The final will be against Ipswich Town Ladies and will be played at Portman Road on Monday 13th May 2013.

MEMBERSHIP UPDATE
Membership for this season is closed but we will be convening as a committee during the closed season to look at and start planning next seasons memberships. Any ideas and feedback are most welcome (family membership, etc, etc).

FINANCE UPDATE
Our current balance stands at £1237.10 and has been boosted this month by the Easter Tombola, in which we raised £68.40. This figure will increase even more over the coming weeks with goal sponsorship to be paid in and no doubt more goals to be scored between now and the end of the season. So we’re certainly looking in a good position to be able to make another worthy purchase for the football club.
The only outgoings remaining for this season will be when we purchase and have engraved the trophies for the Player of the Season for all of the teams (see item below).

An in depth report of the finances can be requested by any member.

EVENTS / FUNDRAISING
All of the remaining Supporters Club and Football Club events for the rest of the season have now been planned and in most cases advertised. However, without the support for these events we are going to struggle to keep laying them on. We understand finances are tough, especially with so many games at present but please support these events if possible, as this is your club and these great nights have been laid on for you.
As always, tickets for these events can be obtained from the football club or through Terry Bullen.

Oompah Band & Party – Saturday 13th April 2013
Without doubt this will be a night not to be missed with an amazing four piece Bavarian-style band playing a selection of foot stomping, thigh slapping German tunes.
Guests will also be kept entertained throughout the evening singing the Bavarian Drinking Song, learning to ‘seat sway’, dancing the polka, playing team games, singing along to old favourites and much, much more. All of the above will no doubt make for a fun filled night and included in the price will be a tastier of authentic German food.
Tickets can be purchased from the football club, online shop or through Terry Bullen and are priced at just £12 (Trawlerboys Members are being offered a discounted price of £10).

Players Presentation Night - Saturday 11th May 2013

The date for the Players Presentation night has been set and more details on this will follow shortly.

Antony Myres (Sinatra, Buble and Rat Pack Tribute Act) – Saturday 8th June 2013
Click your fingers and tap your feet as you enjoy the classic songs of Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble and The Rat Pack, performed by the excellent Antony Myres.
Ticket prices and more details on this event will follow in the coming weeks.

Lowestoft Town FC Beer Festival – Friday 19th July to Sunday 21st July 2013
Following on from the update last month when we announced that we have the fantastic Second Hand Blues Band playing on the Saturday night. We have now secured a Folk & 60’s combo to kick us off on the Friday night. With the bands now in place we will shortly be progressing the advertising for this event in the local press, real ale and music magazines, posters and various social networks, including its very own event page on Facebook.
As the coming weeks and months go by more and more information and details will follow, for what we hope will become a massive success and an annual event.

PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Voting is now open for the Supporters Player of the Season awards with all votes needing to be in by Saturday 13th April 2013.
We are aware that there are still a number of games to be played over a short period, especially for the First Team. However, in order to allow us time to get the votes in and the trophies engraved for presentation at the last home game, we have had to open voting from now until Saturday 13th April 2013 (Carshalton at home).
There is a vote and trophy for each team (First Team, Reserves, Academy and Ladies), with the player who receives the most votes being presented with the trophy for their team.
Voting forms should be placed in the voting box situated in the Club Shop before the above deadline. However if you’re unable to post your voting form in the voting box, they can be handed directly to Terry Bullen or emailed to tbchair2011@gmail.com.
The player who receives the most votes for each award will be announced and temporarily presented with their trophy before kick-off at the last home game of the season, on Saturday 27th April 2013 (Hendon). A full presentation of the trophies will take place at the Players Presentation Night on Saturday 11th May 2013.
Voting forms are available in the club shop, matchday programme or from the website at http://www.lowestofttownfc.co.uk/d/documents.html
