On and off-the-field developments latest

It may just be the start of July, but Lowestoft Town’s footballers are already working hard ahead of the new season.
After three tough training sessions were overseen by Jamie Godbold and Andy Reynolds this week, attentions will turn to the pitch next week.
The Trawlerboys preparations step up a level on Monday, July 8 (7.30pm kick off) as Lowestoft’s first pre-season game is held – with no admission charge for this opening encounter.
They will host Waveney FC for the Brian Gallagher memorial cup ahead of two more home games on July 13 (3pm kick off) versus Norwich CBS, prior to another local derby on Tuesday, July 16 as Gary McGee’s Kirkley & Pakefield FC side travel over the bascule bridge (7.30pm kick off).
Four more pre-season friendly matches are scheduled for the Trawlerboys ahead of the new Evo-stik League South Premier Division Central campaign.
Off the field this week, the club announced that a new stadium sponsor is being sought with the club’s home ground reverting to Crown Meadow for the time being.
For the past two seasons, the sports promotion and organisation company Amber Dew Events has been involved after taking over the naming rights at Lowestoft Town FC.
The founder of Amber Dew Events, Lord Russell Baker, has followed Lowestoft home and away for the past few seasons, while backing the Blues with stadium sponsorship since the summer of 2017.
Lord Baker said: “It has been a real pleasure sponsoring and supporting Lowestoft Town FC for the past two seasons.
“Sadly however, due to personal reasons, I can no longer continue to be the club’s stadium naming partner for next season.
“It is a real shame as I have really enjoyed my association with the football club.
“I will continue that association as I will follow Lowestoft as a supporter next season, and will still be attending games.
“Hopefully in the coming years I can do something else at the club as the fans are a great bunch.”
Thanking Lord Baker for his sponsorship and association with Lowestoft, club chairman Gary Keyzor said: “Lord Russell was one of a handful of fans who were instrumental in helping to bring Jake Reed back to sign for the club.
“We thank him for his backing, and in the meantime it means that the ground will be going back to Crown Meadow.
“Hopefully we can find another company to come forward with sponsorship as the stadium naming partner.”
