Following the Trawlerboys excellent 1-0 win over Kings Lynn, Sean Galea-Pace catches up with manager Jamie Godbold to gain his thoughts.

Another great victory. How would you describe today’s performance?
It was an outrageous result to be fair. To a man, we stuck to our game plan and worked together from the 1st to the 90th minute and made it really difficult for Kings Lynn to get past our eleven players. In many ways, I felt we were good value for the win.

You must have felt it would have been a tall order to come away with back to back wins this weekend?
If you’d have asked me two months ago whether we’d have taken six points from the Bank Holiday weekend then I’d never have thought it. It’s been a great weekend for us but let’s not get too carried away. We’ve won three games with a smallish squad but we can’t let ourselves get too carried away.

Ben Fowkes justified his name in the team selection today with another goal, having been left out on Saturday. He proved his point, didn’t he?
Absolutely! I’m pleased for him because he came off the bench and scored what was probably the winner on Saturday and to come here and do it again today was brilliant. I wouldn’t like to look at it that he was dropped but he’s the one who’s got the headlines today but out of possession, we were outstanding today. Apart from two saves Elvijs had to make, I think we made life really difficult for Kings Lynn today. I feel that over the last two games, we’ve prevented onslaughts on our goal by two fantastic teams.

It’s not going to be easy as beating every team is in this league is difficult. However, on Saturday you travel to Bedworth who are currently bottom of the league. It’s important to remain grounded, isn’t it?
Definitely and it’ll be a different test mentally as well. We’re starting to build confidence which is great but it’s also important to guard against complacency as well. We need to approach that game in the same way we’ve approached the last five. We need to stick together and work hard for each other to control the game as much as we can because I feel first half today, we probably the better side. Second half was always going to be difficult as I knew they were going to come at us and try to get a goal but we stood firm and I am extremely proud of my players today.

Elvijs had a last minute fitness test in order to make the game today following his injury on Saturday. How much of that was touch and go?
I was delighted that he was fit enough to play but I think Andy was ecstatic that he didn’t have to play! We worked so hard yesterday trying to bring someone in as cover, Norwich and Ipswich offered us goalkeepers to be fair but because of the Bank Holiday, we weren’t able to get the move done in time unfortunately.

But on a side note, I have to say that I felt the supporters today were absolutely tremendous! You could see them, you could hear them and they were so important, particularly in the last five to ten minutes when you start thinking you’re going to need to hang on. So to have that level of support really makes all the difference. We were good and the supporters were even better. We’re going to need that kind of support for the season ahead!
