Manager Jamie Godbold previews this afternoon's game against Barwell at The Amber Dew Events Stadium.

Good afternoon and welcome to the Amber Dew for what seems like an age since we last played a league game here! An extended welcome to our opponents Barwell - hope you enjoy the day!

Firstly I will say how great it feels to be back playing at home! Our results on the road since our last home game have been disappointing, hence a home game with home support is very much needed. Our performance against Russell Olympic last Saturday was probably our worst of the season and I think the only game we’ve played so far that we didn’t deserve to take anything from. A much-needed improvement was required in the Suffolk derby game v Needham last Tuesday night, and whilst we did get an improvement from the players, it wasn’t enough as we fell to a last minute winner, which was harsh on the group as I felt we were deserving of at least a point!

I’ve never been one for making excuses as far as results and performances are concerned. However, on this occasion, having nine senior regular players out through injury would affect any team in the world. It's been a difficult time and we have, at times, wondered if we could even field a team! Nevertheless, its the hand we’ve been dealt with and we have asked our players, particularly our young ones to grow up quickly and be able to impact the game. What I can say is that we are giving our best - which as a manager is all you can ask.

For squad news I’m hopeful that over the coming weeks we have some of the 'walking wounded’ return. We have brought in James Blanchfield (paperwork permitting) from Dagenham and Redbridge, initially on a months loan, which will help ease the injury crisis.

Finally, we look forward to playing in front of you today and hope that you will play your part in getting behind the lads.

Enjoy the game!

Godders
