Matthew Reddy speaks to new signing Kieran Higgs about all things football and what we can expect from him this season at Lowestoft.

Hi Kieran, welcome to Lowestoft Town. What convinced you to sign for the club?

Thanks. It’s good to be here. I first came down to have a look because Lowestoft is close to where I live and I know one or two of the lads. But it was obvious from speaking and listening to what Godders and Reyns were saying to the group that this is a club moving in a positive direction and improving every week. I think some coaches and managers at this level look at their squad at the end of pre-season and will just work with what they have there but everyone here has bought into Godders and Reyns idea of the process and we know results will come. Being a young player and still looking to improve, that’s really what made me want to sign.

You spent some time on loan with Solihull Moors last season… how much do you think training with a National League team helped you?

Yeah, Solihull was a good experience for me because it was the first time I was exposed to the pressure of impressing supporters and getting results. Now coming to Lowestoft and already seeing how well the supporters get behind the team, I think I can speak for all the boys in saying that we want to impress as many people as we can and get them coming back to watch every week.

What has been the best moment of your career on a football pitch so far?

After spending 18 months injured at my last club Norwich and never really getting many minutes after that, it’s tough to say. I just love being on the pitch, working hard and enjoying my football.

Describe your assets on the pitch…

On the pitch I love to be direct. I like to think my pace and power are the two things that bring me the most success.

Which current footballer can you compare your game to?

I’ve always been a big fan of Gareth Bale. His super direct style and the way he uses pace to beat players is something I have always tried to replicate in my own game.

Finally.. any personal targets for the season?

I want to play in as many matches as I can and make a difference in as many ways possible. I’d also love to score a few goals!
