Goalkeeper Ashlee Jones has signed a one year contract with Lowestoft Town Football Club.

Jones has recently featured on trial for Lowestoft in friendlies against Gorleston, Kirkley & Pakefield and Brantham Athletic and the Trawlerboys were keen to secure the 25-year-olds signature after he left Canvey Island this summer. Lowestoft have already signed another goalkeeper during the close season in the form of Will Viner from Thurrock but Jake Jessup's potential move to Forest Green has seen the Trawlerboys re-enter the market for a shot-stopper.

Jones came through the ranks at Southampton where he was a member of the squad that reached the FA Youth Cup Final in 2005 alongside Gareth Bale, Leon Best, Nathan Dyer and Theo Walcott.

Jones is an experienced goalkeeper and during his career he has played for the likes of Rushden & Diamonds, Potters Bar Town, Fisher Athletic and Crawley Town.

In March 2009 he joined Wycombe Wanderers on a non-contract basis and then went on to join League Two club Darlington in October 2009, making his Football League debut shortly after but then leaving the club via mutual consent in February 2010.

Most recently Jones has been at Canvey Island, signing for the Ryman Premier side in August 2012. However he left the Gulls this summer and will now start the 2013/2014 season in the Ryman Premier Division with Lowestoft Town.

Joint Manager Micky Chapman stated "Ashlee is a very good keeper and you can see he is Quality. He will be a fantastic addition to the squad, especially with Archie (Jessup) having a trial at Forest Green, in which we wish him the best of luck and would never stand in anyone's way if they get the chance to go on from here."

Jones will now compete for the number one spot with Viner, providing competition for places in the starting line-up.
